Need help putting this tiny kitchen reno together (pics)
Comments (31)johnatemp, ty so much for the tips. I'm going to copy this and save for DH. He'll need all the help he can get when coming time to paint :) kmc, I really do love the antique what. I just wonder what it'd look like with my bright white trim. rose, I'd love if lowes or someone here would offer making us a template, but I asked. They said they'd only do that if THEY were installing. I even offered to pay them to come double check measurements, and they said nope. I did find a local company yesterday. They claim the starting price for their laminate WITH install is $8.50. Goes up to $9 something, depending on the edge. And just $6.50, if I wanted them to just slap some new laminate on my existing counter tops. I actually talked to two smaller companys, both were about the same. Sooo..we'll see what kind of estimate I get. Both are coming out next wk. I just know I don't want to pay the $1400 for laminate that Lowes priced us at. And I know painting the cabs may be a turn off for some. But, I can't live with them any more. I really can't, lol. I've consulted my realtor, as well. She knows the area, the neighborhood, the block, my house AND my cabs, lol. And she says go for it. She thinks if I can pull it off, it'll only help set ourselves apart from the rest of cookie cutter land :)...See MoreNeed help pulling living room together
Comments (17)Fantastic clock! I agree w/ grandmaof3 - add a throw to your sofa. I politely throw in my suggestion about using 2 spa blue (or close to your chair color) throw pillows to your sofa in addition to 2 patterened throw pillows that contain the spa blue like that middle fabric that you posted. I think that adding blue to the sofa will actually 'tone down', 'incorporate' and 'lessen' the impact of the red and here's why: it's pulling the color from the presence of the chairs and thereby balancing the room. You have the solid spa blue to pull that color directly across, the addition of pattern that incorporates a reddish color to now blend the 2 colors together. I would layer the solid blue in the corners of the sofa then add the patterned pillow next working inwards. If you could stand 1 more pillow just for 'show' maybe add a small lumbar or boudoir sized pillow right in the middle. Great place - have fun!...See MoreNeed help making our new house feel more put-together
Comments (25)I think the dining room rug is a little dark but I would make your other changes before replacing it - maybe it'll look okay once you've done everything else. You could also try removing it for a while and see if you like the area lightened up. If you do, you could look for a lighter rug or just leave it out. And I would also center it under the table if you can. I hate to say it but I think the new curtains might be a tiny bit too short but I am no curtain expert and don't have any in my house. I think I like the Accessible Beige or Agreeable Grey mentioned above better than Maison Blanche or Antique White, but that boils down to personal preference. I just sampled Antique White in my own house and it looks more tan/yellow than I prefer and reminds me a little of your current wall color....See MoreHelp in pulling things together in dining room and living room
Comments (12)Thank you for all of your suggestions. Yes, I need curtains. I was trying to decide what color - HavingFun - I think those curtains are out of stock. Would a blue or white curtain work? Fabric? I do like the french country/ cottage look. Pillows - blues to match the rug? versus aqua? Yes, I am toying with moving the buffet to under that window. Someone else had suggested that. I don't know if that space where the buffet is currently would look to open. Another person had also suggested moving the sofa to the side where the buffet is, and getting two chairs on the other side (not the pink chair). And, a bench under the big window. I haven't tried it yet. I do like my white chair that matches the sofa. I'll have to play around....See Morehcbm
