Jess. your poor Dracaena! It's been through a lot. Tap water is fine. You don't need Spring or any other bottled water. Also, it's not sunburn. One thing you should have been doing the last 5-years is rotating your Dracaena 1/4 turn once a week. I think your Corn Plant has/d a 'Dehydration' problem. How long did it go without being watered? You didn't mention time spent away from home. You also stated the pot doesn't have drainage. Do you know the container size? Was it watered before you left? Let's say soil dried completely and was w/o water for a good amount of time. Then you returned and gave it heavy drink..Possibly too much?? Even though there are rocks on the bottom of pot, if you added too much water, the roots could have been sitting in water all this time. Do you check soil between waterings? Not only the top, but halfway or further down? Your container looks large, 'by the picture.' If the top soil dries, it doesnt' mean the bottom soil is dry too. It needs to be checked..A thin stake is sufficient. Insert the stake as deep as possible. If the stake comes out wet, the bottom soil is still wet. And visa versa. Lifting a pot is another way to check. Lift after watering. Wait a week, two, etc, and relift. If the pot is light, most likely the soil is either drying out or dry. Only you can determine its weight and use judgement whether or not it needs a drink. Why did you start watering twice a month instead of once? It's possible its roots aren't absorbing water, 'if it's beens sitting in muddy soil.' Short periods of drought won't cause much harm, but heavy periods can cause permanent damage, preventing the plant from breathing. This happens frequently. Soil dries too much, then the plant ends up over-watered. Especially if the pot is w/o drainage. If your plant was in a pot with drainage, the first thing that should have been done is, soaking in a bucket of water, until top of soil is moist. Soaking can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes. Possibly more depending on pot size and amount of soil. What type of soil was used when you last repotted? Have you repotted in the last 5-years? Do you fertilize? It's going to require some work, but you love your plant so it's well worth it. Unpot the plant. Toss out old soil. Add fresh, semi-well-draining soil. Although your pot is very pretty, instead of potting directly in the container, pot in a plastic pot w/drainage. Pot size should be determined by the root-ball. 1-3 sizes larger is fine. After your plant is potted, it can be placed in your pretty blue pot. BUT, it's important you place something inside the pot so when you water, roots don't sit in water. I use styrofoam sheets. Break a piece or two to fit inside ccontainer, 'depending on thickness,' in the blue pot, then set the plastic pot on top of the styrofoam. Water well...enough all parts of the rootball are moistened. Remove dead leaves, or trim brown edges of leaves. Is the air in your house dry? If so, start misting. Or, if your plant isn't too heavy, give it a shower. Rain water is the best medicine, but if it's cold or not raining, that's out. lol. Instead, spray each leaf. After your Dracanea settles in, renews growth, give it a half-dossage of an All Purpose Fertilizer. In the future, rotate, once a week, so the entire plant gets balanced light. an unobstructed, south window is usually harsh for Dracaneas, in summer, when sun is blazing, but since your Corn Plant has been in that window the last 5 yrs, it probably adapted. Sunburn would be obvious. I wish you luck..It's going to take some work, but you love your plant, so get to it. BTW, check its roots. Corn Plants are pretty forgiving. Toni

I think it is probably lack of water or temps. I am leaning towards temps, just because you said they were ventricosa and they are the sherman tanks of nepenthes. The brown spots look to originate from the veins which seems to tell me that the issue is from within and not an external attack. Ventricosa is technically a highland nepenthes. Although it will grow like a weed in most any condition. That tells me that humidity is probably not the issue since I grow mine if lower humidity. The next possibility is tempurature. You are in zone 9, how cold does it get there during the winter? Most neps, with the exception of a very few (2 that I know of khasiana and lamii [i think]) can withstand temps below 45. I had a ventrata burn at the growth points this fall when temps got below 50. It is doing fine now and started to branch and vine as a result, but I was nervous for a few weeks. (I haven't lost a nep yet.) Ventricosa if a very forgiving plant when it comes to water and light, but you should never let a nep dry out. Which judging by your experience, I am guessing is not the issue. That is what keeps leading me to tempurature. If that is the case, I think as long as you give them attention and get back to optimal conditions, they should bounce back. Leaves may die, but as long as new growth appears, then you should be ok. In it's weakened state try not to overwater. If leaves are dying, this is food for fungus now all it needs is a nice drink. If it is lack of water, then you should be fine too. Just make sure not to water log it for the same reasons as just mentioned. A little more light may help during the healing phase if the pitchers weren't already a reddish color before this problem. Otherwise, light is just right. Hope this helps...

You have multiple issues going on here; the leaves should not be falling off like that. As LilBit said, it appears to be a glass container and if there are no drainage holes that is your first problem. The second issue is your soil looks very peaty, like a regular bagged potting mix. Succulents need very well-draining soil. A simple fix to get you started is to buy a bagged succulent/cactus mix and add 50-70% perlite, depending on how humid your climate is. For the long term, you may want to consider using a gritty mix (you can search on this forum for recipes). When you water the plants, the water should flow out immediately through the drainage holes. The next issue is your plants are etiolated, or stretching for sunlight. Succulents are generally not indoor plants, but can sometimes be grown in south-facing windowsills (assuming you don't have any trees or anything blocking the light) or under T5 fluorescent lighting. Because these plants have been without sun for so long, they will need to be acclimated over the course of a couple of weeks to more light. Finally, one of your echeverias (the fuzzy one close up in your second photo) is a bit perplexing. Normally rot coloration starts toward the stem end of the leaf, rather than from the outward edges like on your plant. It's possible you have a fungus going from the excess moisture. The first thing to do is remove all of your plants from that mix right away. Take a look at the roots; if there are very few and/or the plant stems appear brown at the base, they are rotting. If that is the case, which I suspect, you will need to cut the plants with a sterile knife above any discoloration until you see only green, healthy flesh. The plants will sprout new roots in time and can be re-planted into a more suitable potting mix. All of your plants, even if not currently rotting, should be taken out and allowed to dry out a bit. Don't re-pot them until you are able to get your hands on a pot with a drainage hole and a well-draining mix. Succulents can live outside of soil for months, so don't worry about leaving them out too long - they will be happier that way than in the moist environment. The pot is placed a few meters from direct sunlight ==>>> its indoors.. it gets NO direct light ... mostly because there is a window in the way ... and its simply too far from the diffuse light from that window ... the third pic seems to show very good new growth ... why do you say its brown?? ... how about a closer pic ... its going through some stress from moving it from one place to another ... all plants shed older leaves ... annually.. it can be increased due to stresses like moving it ... i think you are on the verge of loving it to death ... try to chill a bit.. and settle in.. and try to get it closer to a window... there is a houseplant forum ... where you can learn all about such ... ken
