I am a fabricator. It distresses me when someone goes thru an experience like yours because the stone supplier or fabricator did not accurately communicate the material properties of a particular stone. In my shop we make CERTIAN a customer knows the properties of a stone they are considering including signing off on the details because we don't want that unhappy customer coming back a few months down the road. "soft quartzite " doesn't exist. If it's soft (and etches) it's marble and has all the performance deficiencies marble is known for. with Real quartzite is so hard it's a challenge to process in the fab shop which is part of the reason it's considerably more expensive. For your application the only long term option is to replace the top with any one of hundreds of options in natural stone that will hold up to your planned use with little or no maintenance.

appreciate you all taking the time to reply. wish i could reply to each comment individually just after each comment but unfortunately doesn't look like i can do that. @rnonwheels -flooring will be luxury vinyl plank; considered black countertops but i really like how white really brightens and opens up a room @mint design studio -my flooring might be a bit busy, but i'm likely doing simple, white 3x9 (or larger) subway tile for backsplash @rachel nye -i might consider doing all namib sky if the stone yard would refund me for the allure slab i bought. although i bought it cuz i absolutely love it, so i'm leaning more towards keeping it. don't have enough to do perimeter counters. thanks for the pic -i love it. is it a calacatta or white volakas? @sunfeather -some of the larger chunks of grey looking clouds would probably end up being removed with cutouts for sink and cooktop. i'll see if i can post a pic of the flooring. likely doing a 3x9 or 3x12 subway tile for backsplash this is the flooring we are using: and possible backsplash:

I just got Taj Mahal install in our kitchen. I need help deciding paint color for my cabinets. I have narrowed down two options, one is Sherwin Williams accessible beige and other is oat milk (emerald designer collection). I have no window in kitchen but do have big windows in breakfast area. I always keep my daylight bulbs on in the kitchen when I am working. I also need help in deciding wall paint color too.

@peacehope68 we are doing a complete reno on a 100+ year old farmhouse and are using the Alexandria Quartzite. (Yes, to the sticker shock but I knew it was coming). Right now, I am also debating if we should use on just our island with waterfall edges or also perimeter? I as first going to use Quartz Statuary Massa on perimeter to keep island as showpiece and keep costs down, but then was thinking I love the Alexandria so much - should we do all countertops same? To add to decisions, I found a quetiapine white quartzite (name is escaping me) that we put on hold because I felt more compelled to keep natural stone with the Alexandria. TheWhite quartzite also pulls that same look in the Alexandria with also same creamy, darker areas and the whites. We are also debating on a light wood for cabinets or white, or mix. Would love to see your finished project and any suggestions from anyone on coordinating potentially two countertops and possibly two different (white / light wood) cabinet options.
