So this is the previous photo of my grass

Well last Saturday the grass started getting a little yellow so I watered it with my sprinkler system and spread some Scotts Southern Turf Builder Lawn Food.

Well it only seemed to worsen.

Here is a photo of of a grass stolon I pulled. It didn't take much effort what so ever to pull up

I purchased a pH meter. I will say I am in Houston, TX and we just had 50 inches of water come through from Hurricane Harvey but I measured prior to the rain and the pH meter did not even move from the alkaline 8 section. Today I measured it and it is shown in the photo below

Closer to 7. Does anyone know what this could be. Most of the spreading occurred in about 4 days. And even with all the water still remains to be yellow. And if they are familiar with what this is. What are some steps I can take in treating this? I appreciate any help.
