Advice for Rats in My Rental Apartment
Comments (15)I have not contacted health and bldg inspectors as of yet. l will though! We are looking to move out of this place and when we do then I will be calling those inspectors as landlord is having his worker come here and do the work. Never called an exterminator and will rent this apartment to someone else or a couple and they will move in here with Rats coming into apartment and building. Should NOT BE ALLOWED TO RENT if he does not take care of this problem properly. I had to get into a bit of an argument with the landlord. He said I was being very diligent in wanting to rid the place of rats but I have not been diligent in paying the arrears in rent to him; which is not much and was planning on doing so by end of this month as kind of a surprise for him and plus we want to be square on when we move. So, I had to tell him of this. In that text also he mentioned that we locate the holes on outside of the house and tell him where they are and he would have his worker come and seal them! Can you imagine? I told him that is not our job as tenants to do that! So after I mentioned the arrears being paid in full by end of month he had his worker here the next day looking for holes and sealing them. He did miss a very large one that I noticed on this stone wall while I walk my dog. Its right at the seam of the sidewalk and bottom of stone wall! Think Rats can go right inside and walk a trail underneath and get right into the basement and then into our walls and ceilings from the other large opening in basement behind a brick wall! Worker has still not started any work on sealing those up though! Unreal! So Disgusted With All of This!...See MoreTiny LA Apartment Rental
Comments (39)why, she can play/draw/dance in the living then pick up the toys etc before changing routines or going to sleep. put them in a bin or a basket or a drawer that's hers, a shelf that's hers. like millions of other kids. what's the problem. she's gonna get her bedtime story. she's gonna have a totally normal life. actually she'll get to spend more time with her parents due to these close quarters. True, kids this age want to be close to their parents-so she'll be too, just like everybody else if not more. for the first several years of my life we were 6 people in 2 rooms, kitchen and bath communal with neighbors. I don't remember being unhappy. I do remember myself more or less since age one..of course I remember also whatever scared me or shamed me or worried me, but overall life was full of wonders, at this age. My parents and grandparents, they probably felt less elated, living like that for years and years......See MoreApartment/self catering rental in Paris handicapped accessible

Comments (14)Thanks all for your input!! We are definitely going to replace the curtains - I am thinking something a bit sheer to make sure we get lots of natural light. We are also going to talk to the LL about the bars on the window. It's a very safe neighbourhood, but the LL installed the bars about 20 years ago when they lived in the unit, before the building had a fence around it. Now there is a fence so people cannot so easily enter our deck and back door area. We are also definitely interested in covering up the existing tiles that have the flowers on them, but leaving the rest of the white ones as they are. I am thinking we could do one single row across the entire backsplash of some sort of peel and stick tile with a funky design - something that is perhaps blue/grey-ish to match the counter top? I love the look of the Spanish style tiles, but I've never done this type of decorating before so I'd love some feedback on what sort of tiles you all think would work! I've been looking on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/ca/market/peel_and_stick_tile We have a microwave and toaster that are stainless steel which will be out on the countertop and I think will help! I'd also like to get some sort of runner-type rug for the kitchen to add some colour. We are based in Canada so unfortunately we don't have Target here, but IKEA seemed to have some reasonably priced ones. New door knobs/pulls were mentioned as well. I did some googling but couldn't quite figure out which were being referred to, or further, which would look good/fit with where the current knobs are installed. I'm also thinking maybe put some sort of plants/decor on top of the top cupboards to add some personality there. Any thoughts? I should mention our budget isn't very large unfortunately as we are a young couple just starting out! We've been sourcing a lot of our furniture off Kijiji/Facebook Marketplace which has been great though, and I am super open (although inexperienced) to DIY :) Thanks again everyone!...See MoreUser
