Need quick opinions, does my tile need to be redone?
Comments (38)I'm so sorry about your reno fatigue--that can be overwhelming sometimes. I would say that whether or not you are up to the delays, etc that are involved w/ redoing the tile is a decision for you and dh to make. However, if choose to have it redone, I would strongly encourage you to reconsider paying out of pocket for more tile. It sounds like you did your homework about this tile, discussed it beforehand w/ the GC, and have had realistic expectations of what is acceptable. This is installer error, thus the burden to pay for a fix *is not on you*. Given your good working relationship w/ the GC, hopefully all will proceed peacefully. And I suspect your dh would be much more amenable to a re-do if there is no cost to y'all. I know mine would be! p.s. It is definitely easier/less labor to remove before grouting. p.p.s. If you do start over, you might want to indicate w/ an arrow on the back of each sheet of tile which way is "up". Although I still don't think that is your responsibility to take care of that, it might facilitate a faster, more successful install ;-)...See MoreOpinions requested....waterstone plp. Comments (15)Thanks. I bought one that is too big too, but the Whitehaus is even bigger so it won't work for me, drats. Since ours is installed and we don't have the original boxes anymore we are just going to save it and use it when we finish off the basement. So now I'm stuck having to buy another faucet, so I can totally relate to your frustration. Don't make the same mistake as me...if the reach is 8 1/2" make sure that you take into consideration that the water isn't going to come straight down, but that it will be coming out at an angle actually lengthing the reach. Good luck with finding the perfect faucet. I have a feeling I may have to get one without a sprayer since my sink is a D shape that is 12" x 17" with the shortest end being where the water will be coming out. The single hole is already drilled so my choices are limited....See MoreWhat Would You Do: Island Orientation & Prep Sink?
Comments (17)My kitchen sink is the Kohler Whitehaven "short apron" style. It can be installed easily on a standard sink base cabinet. Since I kept my cabinets, I went with the "short apron" style so i would not need to get a new sink base cabinet. I like the short apron style because it is somewhat reminiscent of the big cast iron sinks from the early part of the 1900's, and I was going for a vintage look. The Whitehaven also comes in a "tall apron" style which needs a farm sink base cabinet and more resembles the "butler" sinks of Europe - which is what the farmhouse sinks are modeled on. Both the short and tall apron sinks are the same depth inside and made of cast iron. I really like mine, not just for how pretty it is, but I like being close to the sink while I work, and despite being close, I never splash myself like I did with my old sink. I probably prefer the table because I'm short and don't like dangling my legs:) I will add that my sink fits the 36" cabinet base - it is plenty big. It comes smaller and if you wanted a few more inches, you might do a smaller sink base cabinet if you could get it to fit the dimensions....See Morehomepro01
