Source for 2x2 polished black granite or porcelain?
Comments (3)Thanks for weighing in, Bill. I've become addicted to this forum in large part to look for your answers and learn from the master! I was a little worried about polished tiles in the bathroom, but I've had the 2x2 polished marble in the shower for 2 weeks now, and it's just fine, even with young kids running in and out of the shower. I do also have a 12-inch stripe of a second tile, with more traction, running across the middle of the floor, and that helps, I'm sure. Now if I can only find something to replace the marble......See MoreTransition between Almond Danzare Tile & Polished Porcelain Tile
Comments (4)Hi guys ! I am sorry, I made a mistake. What I meant was, we will be using Danzare in the kitchen area. The floor plan is open - so the kitchen faces the dining/living areas. There is no door separating the kitchen from the dining (it is one of those new townhomes!). I wanted to use Kashmir in the dining/living. Is that possible? Lezlie & groveraxle: What tile would you recommend? Danzare has a very cheap look, and I don't want that in the living/dining area. Skippack Tile & Stone: KM in the bathrooms would be too slippery....See MoreModern kitchen - too polished
Comments (15)There is "modern" and there is "utilitarian/industrial". Making all the elements very similar (white glossy everything, with cement looking floors, sounds more like the second to me, like a commercial kitchen sans a stainless steel work surface. Is that what you are aiming for? Introducing some wood element somewhere will move it more toward a gentler but modern aesthetic IMO (ps I am no expert). I am not a fan of open shelving but if your walk in area will be visible it might do. You can probably have the wood fabricated to be complimentary to the other woods in the home yet a little different, with a bit more color. cpartist made a very good point - I like whites in a kitchen or bath, but it really bugs me when they are all slightly different shades (some grayer, some warmer...) Some people, I guess, don't see it though, and so it doesn't bother them....See MoreAre polished porcelain floors slippery to the point of being dangerous
Comments (9)I am not sure polishing has anything to do with it but any smooth surface flooring is slippery especially when wet. I had vinyl tiles in a bathroom (12" x 12") and they were a death hazard. I rented a place with marble 12" x 12" marble tiles and they also were a hazard with the least bit of moisture on them. Consider that most commercial buildings and apartment buildings with smooth surfaced lobbies put out special little yellow warning things when it is rainy, snowy or even when they have finished mopping. There is a COF rating for tiles so you should start there. You could also get a few sample tiles and see what it is like to skid around on them....See Moremjammjam
