Help with yellow and brown leaves jacaranda.

We got a new house just a few months ago and we have a small jacaranda tree at the backyard. I love jacarandas, but never had one to learn how to care for them or how the yearly changes go. So from last week the leaves turned a yellow and brown color, which I am not sure if is just how they should look before falling (since it is end of winter) or if it is sick. I read about Xylella fastidiosa and got worried.
I put 2 pictures for reference.

What would you say? Is my jacaranda at risk? What should I do?

You should be able to take some infected leaves in to your local agricultural department and they'll identify it. They're always on the look out for anything which could spread around. And if it is only the normal seasonal leaf loss then it doesn't matter. At least you'll know for sure.

Next summer, just be sure to grow them in a shady spot. Hoyas seem to do very well in shade, and there's way less risk of sunburn. I had a few out this summer on a shady shelf that got just a bit of afternoon sun, dappled through other plants, and they exploded with growth! If you just cut off that growth, it will spring forth with new! Denise in Omaha

Looks like its getting burnt to a crisp. When did you plant it? If it doesn't have any roots set up, it's getting blazed with hot sun, and you fertilized it, I think that would cause the burning. There could be something wacky with your soil too.

The plant needs more light. It's too far from the window. When leaves fall out because the base is brown and soft, the problem is likely to be excessively wet potting mix. You said you water when the surface is dry. How far down is it dry? Stop using fertilizer for now.
