Your home is very cute with the dormers, and the light gray of the 2nd home looks like Cape Cod gray, which is the color of our home. Our neighbor did their cottage home in a light green with white trim and accents of dark red along the trim. It's adorable now (especially because it was sort of peach colored before)! I'll try to take a picture of it to see if you might like that.

What're your summers like, Nancita? What exposure does the porch have and what do you use it for? For our front, north-facing walk-in porch I chose a traditional Charleston green, a regional color which is almost black, for a deep, cool look that would harmonize with the lighter green foliage all around, but we were forced to go light on the porch we sit out on because the summer sun on even a medium green here will make it too hot to walk on. I noticed on browsing the web that current front porch floor colors are typically deplorably limited and boring, but I would think any color that was considered generally acceptable for a front door could be used in a somewhat muted or darkened, or perhaps lightened, version without raising eyebrows. For back deck color, you're outside but still separated from "nature" while sitting on it. Would you like a look that reinforces the shelter feeling (interior-style elements and colors carried outside), or would you like to embrace nature more and feel more as if you were sitting in a park or woods, only without your chairs sinking in? :)

@funcolors wow, you might be the color angel I’ve been needing as I drive myself crazy with whites! We’re repainting all interior doors and trim (prior owners left 3 trim colors, some doors that don’t match frames, etc), so we’re looking for a nice clean white. we have BM mascarpone in our family room and love it, so had planned to expand that through the open concept downstairs as well as stairway. will simply white read too stark against mascarpone? In some areas it seems to a bit, and in bright areas it doesn’t at all. We want to be consistent through the house (and my husband doesn’t like idea of mascarpone on the doors and trim and wants a truer white) , and have ultra pure white in 2 kid rooms (their choice!), and simply white is a huge improvement over the trim and doors there now, which look almost brown in comparison. Basically my Q is: Will we regret Simply White as too stark against creamy, dreamy mascarpone? Or worse, will they clash or look like we failed in an attempt to match? thanks for any help! :)

We’re about to install a deck in either TimberTech Stone Ash (lighter gray) or Silver Maple (darker gray) with white aluminum railing. In a year or two we hope to paint our house (exterior) and are thinking of matching the house paint to the deck and railing. So gray house with white trim. We’re thinking either Benjamin Moore Pewter or something similar (to match Stone Ash) or BM Chelsea Gray or something similar (to match Silver Maple). Does anyone have experience matching exterior house paint to their composite deck color?? We would love to hear about your color choices (paint, deck, and railing) and see photos!!
