There is a nursery in Tonopah, Australian Outback Plantation LLC. Unfortunately, you just missed them at the DBG sale - they'll be there again in March, I'm pretty sure. They've been there for years. I've put a link to the Red Cap that they have on their site below (you will need to scroll down a bit....). I actually have one (or two?) of these plants. I've only lived at this house since April, so my experience is pretty limited, and I would say the previous owner really pruned the bejeazus out of the trees here, so mine is not a really good example. But it did bloom this summer, although I came pretty close to missing it, once again, probably because of the hack job that was done on it. It does form pretty neat seed pods, as well as the buds that look like red caps. I have deep watered mine once since I got here. Looks good, but it is a fairly mature, well established tree. You might get away with teasing a few roots from the bundle but natives as a rule do not like their roots disturbed. How was the root ball when you removed it from the pot? I must admit, I'm guilty of upending pots at the nursery before purchasing and putting them back on the bench if the roots are massed and balled. I once had a 'Summer Red' Euc. which flowered, and also grew, erractically and so I dispensed with it: growth wise it didn't seem to know what to do. Last year I bought by mail order an orange flowering one, and while it too seems to loose it's way a bit, I have managed to prune it to a nice shape. Hasn't flowered yet. You might check your soil, maybe it could use a little iron, try iron chelates, available any where plants are sold. Also remember we've had plenty of rain this summer and if your soil is not well drained that could be the problem. If it is well drained try a little fertiliser-for-natives. It's not absolutely necessary to cut the seed heads or dead flowers away, that's only done to promote more flowers and growth.

I have a couple of those grafted Eucalypts (Summer Red etc.) etc., growing on the Central Coast. You can cut them off as Greg has said but I do not bother. The gumnuts look quite attractive on the tree, I reckon. The flowers when wet, weigh more than the fruits, and even more so when a flock of parrots are feeding on them. My trees are about eight years old and have never snapped a branch.

Hi all, I have a red Passion flower in a container which has not flowered for two years.. It set the buds but the bracts were empty and then they fell off. May be there was some fungal infection? Many leaves also became brown and fell off... I pruned it and Now the plant is putting out new growth.. I am in Pune, India... Very hot and dry right now ... Max temp 42 c ... Should I repot now or wait till monsoon? Does Passion flower need acidic or alkaline soil? Not sure what is required for these plants flower regularly. Please help Thankyou
