"... How many would be the next question..." And the answer is...wait for it..."it depends!" :-) Depends on so many things, beginning with the design and type of sconce: is the light throw down, up, sideways or all of the above, or none of the above. There are many, many kinds of sconces, just as with any other type of fixture. At the end of the day, one is left with a question or two: 1) Am I concerned about lighting something(s) specific, and; 2) Do I care if the fixture is visible, and/or is an "eye magnet"? The answers to these questions will tend to answer "how many?" :-)

We're going to get a Lovesac sectional where all the covers for seats/backs/cushions can be individually washed in the washing machine. The fabric we want ("coastal white weave") is recommended to line dry, so we may get one extra of each type so we always have a clean one to put on. I'm a little nervous to have a white couch, but browsing on Houzz it seems that people who want one usually find it to be worth the inconvenience of occasional washing. We can't let the rug influence the couch color because we don't have many white options with Lovesac. One is a color I don't care for, another is pretty but in a fabric that apparently catches pet hair in a way that is hard to clean, and the others are microfibers and my husband can't stand to touch microfiber. So there's really only the one option for us, and we'll just have to find a rug somewhere that can work with that. I made my own Maria Killam undertone color wheel with Sherwin Williams paint samples (from the info at https://mariakillam.com/colourwheel/), so I'm hopeful that that will be enough to ensure I get a rug that is compatible. Fingers crossed. > And, finally, both in terms of color AND lighting, pay careful attention to the color temperature of all your lights! I have a feeling this is going to be an annoying thing to get right since we have high ceilings and can lights, but it drives me nuts when the lights in a room aren't the same color. The recessed lights are fine. They are for general lighting. The sconces are the more specific task lighting and will eliminate any shadowing. That’s quite a lot of light, actually. You may want to tweak the wattage of the bulbs later, depending on how it feels after you get it all together. I would also put a dimmer on one or both light switches for late night visits. Tip: address appliance outlets in the vanity while you can - if you haven’t already. If you’re right handed, having the cord strung across the sink is a pain. I had an outlet installed down the right side of the vanity and have my hair dryer on a hook there. You may have a better solution for storage inside, but either way it’s a good time to take care of it.

I considered everyone's ideas and suggestions and decided to rearrange the room as such, which looks much better. The pictures make the room look cluttered, but it is not. There is still so much space. My daughter was in awe when she first saw it. I still need to raise the curtains, purchase a neutral color rug, wall art, pillows, lamps, and plants and play around with the other items in the room before it is complete. Despite it not being finished, I am delighted with the new layout. It is warmer, cozier, and inviting. Let me know what you think. Good, bad, and ugly. I am not a decorator, so I am always open to constructive criticism. Thank you for taking the time to help me figure out how to rearrange and decorate this room.
