Thanks for the compliments! flyleft, The base paint is (Home Depot brand) Behr Interior Satin Enamel; color is "Fall Mood" (PWL-87). It's painted on with a roller (cut in at ceiling and corners with a brush). The next day I put on the glaze coat. I had them mix the top paint to a color that was the same as the base, but 25% lighter. The paint lady recommended 50% or 75% lighter, but I wanted a really subtle effect for the powder room. Anyway, the top paint is mixed 1 part paint, with 4 parts glaze. The glaze is Behr Faux Glaze (No, 748, whatever that means). So I mixed 1 pint of top paint with 1/2 gallon of Glaze (and still had lots left over), then applied the mixture with a rag. You just get the rag wet, wring it a little and then begin pressing it, all bunched up, onto the wall. You can do harder or softer for different effects, and you can do more sparsely or more completely for different effects. I did fairly hard (since it was so light) and pretty completely. Beautiful job! I don't know if you have time to go back to the fabric store. If so, get the same fabric and smush it up. See how it will hang. You might only see small parts of the fabric or things you're not especially interested in seeing. Though I really love ikat (I might be in the very minority here), I think of them as more of a trendy fabric even though it's been around for thousands of years. The floral is pretty and it reminds me of the fabric in your living room on the ottomans you like. Though, it does have a modern look to it. But to me (hoping you don't super love it) it doesn't do your room justice. The monkey one is really more traditional to me and I like it a little better. And, from your posts, you run more contemporary. How about a paisley? I have a fabric that I picked out (I won't be offended if you hate it) that I finally ordered. I think it would be pretty in your room, too. I like that it's a linen, so you get more texture. And, it picks up the colors you have in your room. I guess it's an updated jacobean fabric. I thought it was just a floral. I learned it from the gurus here. :) Here are a couple more- just quickly looked on their site. I can't load up the rest. Sorry. At least, that is how I was told. I prefer curtains to romans or shades. Normally, i'd put a roman or a grass shade underneath, but you'd lose the top windows due to the shade. So, I vote no on those. I wouldn't cover up the top windows at all. So, just a vote for curtains. And, I vote for figuring out which fabric you love the most and going off of the colors in there. :) You won't be happy if it's not right! Good luck! Hi, First thing to change is the paint colour. The inset sink looks pretty but the placement of the faucet makes me think it is intended for a vessel sink that sits proud of the vanity top, like this one: Vessel sink. You can get a piece of stone cut to fit over the vanity top and it will cover the previous sink opening, then the new vessel can sit on top. Change out the mirror and the light fixtures. The floor, well you can look into having your tiles stained/painted. I know it can be done but I'm not familiar with the process or the results and how well they stand up. If that isn't a viable option, a nice large size bathmat type rug would work well. Something with a rubber backing so it is non slip and that you can easily wash. I think those changes will bring you to a blank slate and you can use your imagination on a new paint colour and new towels and accessories to make it feel more like your own. I'm a fan of this style of mirror tilting mirror, and Moen has accompanying accessory pieces such as shelves, towel bars and toilet roll holders that match. Lighting, quite frankly, anything at all would be an improvement. Have a look at Pottery Barn for bathroom sconces PB Bathroom sconces, they have many that are lovely and would work well in your space. I quite like any from the Sussex line or Pearson. I think you can choose a daring paint colour for your powder room but you may want it to tie together with other colours in your home. If you show some pictures of the rest of the home, you will get some good suggestions from your Houzz friends.
