Your preference - Closet off Bedroom or Bath?
Comments (23)I've been watching your other thread (even though I've had no real feedback), and was SURE that my answer to this question was bedroom.... till I read all the other answers. The main reason I picked bedroom: the moisture. Problem is, I've never had a large bathroom like the one you're designing. Mine have always been on the small side, current one is itty-bitty (and on my grand list to enlarge in the future). The moisture in there is high, and having a closet open up to that is inconceivable. However, like I said, the size of the bathroom may have some affect on that. Most of the built up moisture in there is due to the shower and since your shower is so far from the closet, it might be ok. In fact, my closet door is only about 6 feet from my bathroom door (which is about four feet from the shower door), with an open space in between and I've never had any moisture problems in the closet. Setting aside the moisture issue, I like all the reasons given above for having it in the bathroom. It would be luxurious not to have to enter the bedroom after showering in order to get to the closet. It probably would not be a deal breaker for me either way. Here's an idea. If you have some free time, go have a look at some of the high end homes currently on the market. We do those zillion-dollar home tours occasionally and thinking back, IIRC, the vast majority of the closets are accessed from the bathroom....See More9 year olds and bathroom sanity habits
Comments (15)I'll respond to a bunch of things at once here: The general consensus from you guys seems to be that we should have a wiping technique chat and have those flushable wipes. That was what I was leaning towards as well. Thank you to whoever it was that mentioned making sure they say "flushable". We don't have him enough to be on constant potty patrol, monitoring his progress for several weeks straight, so whatever we do about this has to fit the amount we have him and I think that approach is worth a shot. So, now the hard part of the problem: What do I do about getting BF to talk with him? BF is a good dad, but he's not comfortable with that sort of things and he's not all that patient. So I know he will feel pressured into giving this tutorial, that he will hate it, and I suspect he will come off as grouchy during it, rather than matter-of-fact. I was thinking of waiting to bring it up again until there is another pair of excessively poopy underwear, but I think I would rather be proactive and prevent future messes. Should I ask him what he will say to A__, and suggest he do a practice chat to me? (He'll think that's totally lame, but it might make him more comfortable with A__) Any suggestions? I have no clue how to encourage my BF on talking to his son about wiping properly and I need some ideas. Or should I just do it myself next time A__ is here? Tell BF that I'm buying wipes and ask if he wants to talk to A__ about it, or if I should (I'm nearly certain he will say he doesn't want to). Then tell A__ "Hey, I bought these for you, because you said that even though you try your best, you have trouble wiping well. [Insert calm and matter-of-fact wiping tutorial here] and then if the paper is still dirty when you do the 'check' at the end, use one of these, just like you did with the paper, but they're wet, so they'll help. Check again, and if it's still dirty, use one more. Flush the wipes with everything else and wash your hands with soap. If you're still dirty, you can have a quick shower - I know you prefer baths, but this would just be a quick shower so you can soap up your bum, and you wouldn't even have to get your face or hair wet. I'll ask you tomorrow night if the wipes made it easier for you, and if they did, Dad or I will tell Mom that you liked them and that you'd like them at her house too."...See Moresecond hand subzero value?
Comments (13)The 1,500 one did not end up checking out ok - there was heavy rust on some of the brackets in the icemaker and it was obvious in person that it was not taken care of well. It's been fun but I've learned that what would actually work best for us is an integrated set so that we could have it blend in seamlessly with the cabinets, probably 18" freezer and 30" refrigerator columns. All of this running around wasn't a waste because beforehand I didn't realize there was a difference between built in / panel ready and integrated and now I know what we need....See MoreWarmer for Facial Cleansing Wipes?
Comments (27)Ta Da! This is a trivial concern, but posting it ,and all your feedback, made me see what should have been a no brainer. I keep a stack of folded washcloths in our family powder room for hand towels, along with a drop-in basket. . Duh me! I will do this by my sink, using the thin cloths! I also don’t prefer the little wipes because I so enjoy a nice, very warm cloth over my face and breathing in the steam ...ahhhh. I felt a bit silly asking here, but glad I did....thanks all!...See MoreFeatherBee
