Outdoor drapes on patio cover?

last modified: 7 years ago

I'm trying to achieve privacy from the upstais windows of the neighbors house and have installed a patio cover.

I am going to install several dwarf cypress trees that will grow into a tall hedge over the fence line and block the neighbors windows sometime in the next 10 years.

I need something that will hold me over while I wait for the hedge to grow.

I was going to install motorized privacy screen on the patio cover that will likely cost at least $5K installed,

but I thought maybe I can just get some outdoor drapes instead for a fraction of the cost.

Has anyone had success without outdoor drapes and is there a good way to secure them against blowing around in the wind?

I want heavy enough fabric to be wind resistant, but not so heavy that it blacks out the light and is too bulky and puffy to push back properly when not in use.

I think the right drapes could not only cost a lot less than roll down sunshades, they could also look stylish at the same time.

I just need them to give me the privacy I need and be practical for outdoor use on a windy day.

I don't want the neighbors to be able to see in. but I don't want blackout drapes that will block all light.
