Cold zone rose gardeners who don't winterize. Are grafted roses best?

Do you agree with my thoughts on preferring grafted roses over own root if you garden in zone 6 or colder?

As long as the graft is planted 4" below soil level, and the root stock shank is very short, about 2", the rose, if the top dies to the ground over the winter, will be given a big boost in its recovery over if it was own root.

What do you think?
