We have a built-in 30" all-fridge (Thermador Freedom Column) and two 24" GE Monogram fridge drawers -- and they both are packed, all the time! (We also have a 30" all-freezer in the kitchen plus a chest freezer in the basement.) We did our kitchen ~four years ago, and our two children are now 7 & 5 -- my point being I only have two small children (not voracious teenagers). Granted, we are strict vegetarians, so we have lots (& lots) of fresh produce. But both my husband and I are of the mind: you can NEVER have enough fridge / freezer space! freezer on left, fridge on right: both have faux drawer fronts to help break up the plane stacked fridge drawers are just to left of sink [on right side of pic], with the fridge on the far left of the photo, just next to ovens

Have you double checked all the dimensions? I just looked at the Kitchenaid website, and it looks like the model you describe is deeper than your current model; i.e., it will stick out beyond your cabinet. It also looks like Kitchenaid still makes the same size model you currently have. Why don't you want to buy the model that fits your space?

Hi, I recently purchased appliances and in the course of my search, I was told by my trusted appliance repair person to stay away from Samsung. His experience was that it takes FOREVER to get parts for a Samsung. He didn't comment on the quality of Samsung, just that they are problematic when they need fixing. I have a friend who has a Samsung refrig and within 2 years, a new part was needed and it took two months to get the part. Ouch. I went with JennAir and have been very pleased. My second choice was GE but they did not have a side by side refrig with no water dispenser so that ruled them out. You can't assume the same brand will have the same handles. The same line within a brand e.g. GE Profile, will likely have the same handles unless handle variety is an option within the line. It is likely that the finish will be the same across brands for the same issue year, but not guaranteed, I worked with an appliance retailer. That was so helpful as the salesperson really knew his stuff and helped me clear the confusion. AND, they price match. If there is an appliance only store in your area, check it out. Good luck, looking for appliances made my head spin!

julieste, still searching? If the fridge was larger capacity, it would be PERFECT! w/the counter depth you have to sacrifice space, so, that's the downside. There isn't a ton of room inside to store things. And I wish the bins would pull out farther. Ditto on the freezer pullout tray. The tech explained how the crisper drawers circulate the air to keep fruits / veggies fresh. my berries will keep for over a week! In my previous Samsung they would rot in two days. he explained why, too long to go into here. take my word for it. I'm happy w/the function of the fridge. I believe it's 22 cub inches. not sure what the regular size is. you can see from the pic how adding another 6 inches in depth would have made this stick out way too far. BTW, their customer service was also good. upon delivery, the door was marred from the packing tape. They sent out a new door. when the tech was installing it, something happened and he scratched or dented the area around the ice maker. Guess what? another door. and then when that came out, I think something else happened. Anyway, I got THREE new doors for this fridge and they fixed it w/o hassle. (would have been cheaper just to send a new fridge) if you want the bronze handles, those cost extra and they deliver those in a fancy, smancy package. Like gold sceptres or something
