Comments (9)Where do you live? Unless you're in deep South Texas/RGV or way north Texas, the current climate/sun exposure/rainfall is likely not causing your problems. It's only April so what you're describing sounds more like a quick plant death. Are you digging large enough planting holes? For example, a little 4" nursery pot requires that you dig out a 12-15" wide hole, and only 4-5" deep, then backfill with the dirt you took out, and tamp in firmly to make sure there is good root contact with the soil. Also, if the plants are root bound in their pots you'll need to tease the bottom apart a bit so the roots are spread out when you plant. With a wide planting hole, spread out roots and ample water, the roots will be able to take hold. But if your root ball is tight and the soil around it is compacted, lots of water alone won't cure the problem. If your plants are completely dead-ola, pull them out of the ground and look at the root balls. If they're still in a little box shape like they looked when you planted them, then that's the problem. Dig wider holes, spread the roots a bit, water deeply and mulch. Let us know where you live....See MoreHelp new cacti ID and everything is dying :/
Comments (7)Do not use sulfur, that's for fungus & other. That yellow stuff looks like something that was applied for decoration. Yes? Often times the seller (of cacti & succulents) will use different things (spray paint, artificial glued on flowers etc.) to make the plant more attractive to buyers. These artificial enhancements are usually detrimental to the plants health. Some sellers only care about getting your money. They don't care about the plants long term health. This is a very sad & ugly side of the plant trade. Many sellers will go to great lengths to dip into your pocketbook. Beware of anything unnatural to the actual plant or it's soil. If you do decide to buy a plant as described, try to remove any questionable material('s) when you get it home. Good luck. H....See MoreVillain Rose (Zone 11 Qld Australia.)
