I actually grew the larger bok choy last year and loved it. I love adding it to stir fries (simple). Another simple meals is to stir fry them with a little oil, garlic and ginger. I add some leftover chicken (rotissere works well) and add some chicken broth. It's yummy!! This year I'm trying the gai lan (Chinese broccoli). I read that you harvest when they're about 6-8 inches tall by cutting the stalks. Then they'll grow back and you can harvest at least 2 more times. Sounded like a great bargain! These I prepare Chinese style with oyster sauce but you could use them like broccoli or raab. Yummy! I love that you volunteer garden for seniors. What a great way to give back!!

I didn't have any way to get a cattle panel last year. I drooled and drooled and tried to find a better way to grow indeterminates than bowing them to the ground after they grew out of a standard tomato cage so they couldn't be seen, (but did just that for 3 or 4 plants)and found none. I actually take that back. I grew 2 of them up into my orange tree and that worked well. :-) You did send me the list. AND I bought a truck. I'm going to head out to the supply house for a cattle panel in the next couple weeks and I CANNOT wait. I still won't be able to grow many because the area that I will be able to put the cattle panel that won't be seen (the raised bed is in a raised area of the yard) is against the fence and doesn't get as much sunlight. So I'm not sure that they will grow as well, but I am certainly willing to try. I started 3 Big rainbow, 3 beefsteaks, 2 Cherokee Purple this weekend. I'll plant more once I get the panel in and see how many I can really fit. I started all my determinates for the early season trial last weekend, too. I don't normally care for cherry tomatoes but if it truly has a tomato taste and not overly sweet I'll be on the lookout. I have a ton of cherry seeds I'm willing to share if anyone wants some. :-) The f4 I've been saving that started as a sungold was sweet but it's lost most that now. :-)

Some gorgeous floors shown above. I actually love all the floors in our home except the carpet in the bedrooms. That will some day be replaced with hardwood, but with all the other floors (hardwood, marble and ceramic tile) that needed to be installed, by my hubby, he wanted a break and had carpet installed. I guess the pattern and the veining on this marble combo would be my favorite. More so because it was one of those happy surprises that come from a goof. The was the first flooring we'd purchased and didn't think to buy extra. We knew better, just didn't do it. HoDe was out of the premixed mortar that hubby had used for other tiles he'd laid and was happy with, so I talked him into mixing his own. How hard could it be, right? Well we heard later that the type we chose is even a bit tough for the pros to always get right. Some of the tiles loosened and broke when walked on. We searched high and low for matching marble to no avail. Then I saw the darker tile at Lowe's and thought we should take some home and see if in our lighting they worked well together. Hubby wanted to just replace them all, but once we found a way to lay them out, after he carefully removed the original tiles, he loved it. Here it is.... Click Photo to Enlarge
