Sorta ot : Photobucket ruined all the old photos

I was doing some research for roses next year and so many old , incredibly valuable threads photos have been removed and replaced with a Photobucket ad . You now have to pay to be able to post your photos on another website. My phone makes it easy peasy to post photos but I know some of us still use Photobucket . Sigh. All those valuable photos from others , some no longer posting or even here on earth with us , are gone. I'll look into how much it is to upgrade Photobucket but I think it's terrible of them to do that. Always looking for more money .

I just keep my photos in files on my computer all organized by year, with each photo alphabetized within each file. It's very easy to post those photos on the forum. I guess it's the old fashioned way--I'm techno-illiterate. But I've never used Photobucket. Diane

Yes, it's terrible. I wondered if that was what happened on the original "Summertime" post. This has been a nightmare for many forums. However, another thing that happens frequently is that people move their pics to other folders, etc. and then they disappear from a post as a result.

Dropbox stopped supporting my old Mac, but still provide some free storage on the cloud and alot of storage if it's just on one's computer. I'll often keep things there until I can download them.

Here's is there answer. Hi, We wanted to provide you all with information on the editor, and where we're going from here. How do I return to the previous editor? With the new editor now in place, this is the one we will be using going forward. There is no option to return to the previous editor. You can still find Pixlr's editor on their website: Pixlr Express Editor Pixlr Advanced Editor (for layering) Why can't you switch it back to the Pixlr editor? The reason we cannot offer the option for you to return to the previous editor is that we are no longer offering it on our site. Our contract with Pixlr has ended, and we are no longer partnered with them to provide those editing tools for use on Photobucket. We will continue to work with the new editing company to provide more features, and hopefully improve the ones that are currently available. Now, you are more than welcome to comment below about anything pertaining to the information we have provided. If you have questions about the editor, please write in to us in support. This new editor is ____(fill in the blank with your own expletive)! We know that users do not like change, we shouldn't fix something that isn't broken, we need to keep it simple, etc. I don't disagree with any of you for the reasons you do not like the change in editors. We also enjoyed many features of the previous one, but we must move on as well, and adjust and adapt to this new editor. TLDR; There isn't a way to return to the previous editor. I only noticed it today. I cound't figgure out how to post pictures either nor could I figgure out how to get all the pages in any of my photo albums to show up. After a while, I just gave up because I simply did not feel like dealing with it or trying to figgure it out.

Hi Badgergirl! Thanks for thinking of me and for trying to help this non-techie. I had no idea you could do a software update so I tried, but without success. I can't find anyplace to click "software update." I'd love to be able to use so many of the apps that I can't download with an IOS lower than 4.0. Here's what I see when I go to the "General" tab in the Settings icon. About Sounds Network Bluetooth Location services Auto lock Passcode lock Restrictions Home Date and time Keyboard International Accessibility Battery percentage Reset Under none of these tabs can I find a place to update software. Can you please steer me in the right direction from here? Am I missing something? I'm starting to wonder if I have some reject iPad as I have other issues with it also like the generic "Mail" tab not connecting to my email anymore. I love this little gizmo, but it's starting to annoy me all the things I can't do on it that others seem to be able to do. Thank you!

a color that dark will make the room look smaller. With southern light It also may go very intense in the afternoon. If you are happy with the choice, that's all that matters. But I would paint two 24x36" poster boards with the color and out them up on the wall. Someone may come along and say you can tell from a small swatch but bigger is better I have found. If you like it with the huge swatches it should be ok. I would do the ceiling white and go with off white trim. Don't overlook the trim color in the assemblage as it will be a factor. The poster boards might seem like a nuisance but they will be less work than priming out a dark color. There is a nice green in your sample and I'm wondering if you like that idea at all. I think it would be very pretty with the copper and dark accents. But perhaps that ground has been covered previously.

Oh vapor , I haven't read that thread so it must have been discussed there . You are right about folks moving the folders, I forgot that happens too. Really sad as these photos are so important when you are searching for info. I wish Photobucket would have said " from now on you must pay extra , not punish us from 2007 lol .

I always keep records of my own photos for notes, but for here I've long been in the habit of archiving helpful threads, photos included, just for this reason right here. I'm annoyed that I never got around to fully archiving the zinnia breeding threads, though. I've used the Wayback Machine for information from defunct websites, and it does archive gardenweb, but I don't think it saves photos.

Sometimes, if you know what you are looking for you can search for the image on google with those keywords and you can still see the image within google search results. If you click on View page, it will bring you to gardenweb and the image will not longer be visible because it was on photobucket.

I used to use Photobucket but quit several years ago. If you come across any of my photos being missing let me know and I'll see if I can replace them. I have all of them on back up drives.

Someone discovered we could embed photos on Garden Web forums using HTML language and thus bypass using the galleries. So photo hosting sites were wonderful for forums that had no gallery. The downside was some people embedded huge .jpgs. And if you were on dial-up . . . . . . . . . . ho, hum. No wonder Houzz took control of that.

Like Seil and Nanadoll all my photos are backed up in organized files. Hacking is alive and well. I don't even trust The Cloud.
