Need help/input fixing a countertop faucet hole issue
Comments (11)I like your set up oldbat2be. Thanks for the picture. It helps to see other placements. I think we want the faucet in the center, because the sink is so wide. We actually haven't even been able to try out this current set up because when we installed the Karbon the threads on the cold water supply got stripped (or maybe were already stripped) so Build.com is sending a replacement. I want to wait and see how it feels to use before making any decisions. But we do like the idea of soap dispenser, so if we can fix the problem we would like to. I really wish I had spent some time thinking about this BEFORE instead of after. :-) Unfortunately it's been too many things going on and too many decisions. My brain (and body) feel a bit fried right now!...See MoreTwo Hole Faucet: Spacing??! (Installing 10/26)...
Comments (10)I agree with what Joseph Corlett wrote about the air gap. Dishwashers today come with the "high loop hose" placement which negates the need for an air gap. There are only a couple of states left in the country that still require an air gap, most notably California and Washington (and maybe parts of Texas and Nevada, not sure). Is that where you are located? And even in those few states, many inspectors will give the OK on not having an air gap if they see your DW has the high loop installation, though of course that depends on the inspector. If you are certain the air gap is required, have the air gap for the inspection, then swap it for a soap dispenser....See MoreThis HAS to be a code violation-solution?
Comments (27)Look carefully at what Ed said: "I said wires and nuts cannot be covered with a blank plate- any other cover, ie piece of wood, drywall. It must either be in a covered box properly or switch/outlet." Ed, what do you mean by a blank plate - any other cover..." A properly covered box IS one with a blank plate....See Morefaucet hole drilled too close to backsplash in quartz countertop
Comments (15)Thank you to everyone who responded, very much appreciate your iput. The owners of the company agreed to replace the counter at their cost and do it correctly - this was achieved only because we could back up our claims of an incorrect install based on the information provided by you all! Sammy - unfortunately, my sister lost her two dogs and cat in the fire; she was not home. The cause of the fire was the slight reverberations of the built-in microwave caused a screw in the mounting bracket to slowly over time rub the the casing off an electrical wire in the wall; the fire investigator had never seen this before and is now using this in their training. She would trade all of her possessions to have her pets back, a year later it's still devastating for her to have lost them. Again thanks to all and hope everyone has a happy, healthy, safe and prosperous New Year!...See MoreLori A. Sawaya
