Please help with living room furniture placement

Wall of bookcases 8.5':
Open space between dining and living room 11.75'
Would like to spread out the furniture. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

6 years agoThis is the best I could assemble from the minimal measurements you provided. I'm assuming the wall is 22' from behind the armoire to the corner of the windows, but I could be wrong. 1 square in this plan equals a foot. The rug drawn is 9x12. I don't think there is room for your bookcases in this room.

Comments (12)I moved some things around and I think I like it better. I know the rug is too small and it shouldn't be "floating" but I don't want a new one until we get the other changes done. I moved the dresser into the dining room and hung (probably too high but couldn't convince 6'3" hubby to lower it and he had a point about being out of reach of the tornado. haha) the sign and pictures that had been on the mantle in the dining room. We also took off the ridiculous trim board they had up because we will be replacing the slider soon. So many things in this house like that silliness. I organized most of the books and moved the bookshelf. And grabbed a few canvases (I know they are small but can't remember where we left my big one) I did the flower, my dad painted the one on the right in Vietnam in '68. We need to fix the coffee table my dad built that's in the garage, I'll put it in front of the sofa, it's a little under 6'long, so it might be technically too big but, again, it's what I have. Comments (18)I agree with the others to place TV and attractive wide credenza on the large wall with a great sofa table in the back of floating sofa. Do you need to replace sofa or rug? If not, then a sofa table behind it, with new sofa pillows and two great arm chairs in cream and facing the sofa, and new round coffee table up on legs would give you flexibility for the future. A sectional can be very limiting without adding much seating. You do already have a chaise on current sofa. Etsy offers some great, affordable wood sofa tabletops in any length and height. You can switch them up with the seasons, tweaking your accessories, rug, drapes for a nice change between warm an cool times of the year.
