Design thoughts on re-vamping unique 70's ranch exterior

We bought this house almost two years ago and are finally getting around to finishing the front exterior. Below are our plans for the front, and then some questions. The only thing that has to stay is the new front door, roof, and the soffit and fascia colors. Those are all new. Looking for suggestions or opinions on our plans. When we bought it:

Here is the current design (pardon the crudeness...):

Here are some current pics:

Here are our plans:

  • Remove the wrought iron railings
  • Use similar brick and build out columns on each side of entryway to support soffit and roof once the horizontal beam across top is removed. Columns will be stained to match front door and garage door.
  • New carriage style garage door with windows similar stain to front door.
  • Put 20" x 72" windows on each side of the front door (like large sidelights). Not sure if should be plain glass or have a little bar to break it up on top (like in design pic)
  • Put in two windows on front of house. They are framed in the location in design (but drywalled over because we didn't know when we'd get to putting them in.
  • New windows on both sides of entryway to match new windows on front. Thinking grills on windows just around the border (not full on lattice grill...)
  • Trim and casings to match the sandstone/tan color of the soffit and fascia
  • Somehow put a film or get new etched windows to hide the view into the garage from the tall slim windows on the front left of the house.
  • Redo the siding on the wall with the front door. We don't have enough boards to put back up, so we'd have to buy new cedar boards and paint them. Looking for other creative options - can we do a whole different siding there? Brick? Anything besides more vertical cedar boards!?!
  • Put a horizontal board on the bottom and top of the siding to look more finished (most wood siding houses have them...ours didn't for some reason. Either trim color or same color as siding.
  • Thinking the far right of the house needs something...."heavy". The left side has all the brick and garage door and the right just seems to trail off. A pillar to match entryway ones? Large bush/tree?

Thank you in advance for any and all opinions! This is a unique entryway but we've tried our best to make it what we want.
