What’s your favourite geranium / pelargonium?
Comments (12)FrozeBudd, I'll have to give the 'Nano' variety a try, I like the idea of a more compact geranium, especially if I bring them indoors during the winter. Right now, "BullsEye" is my most compact: If I'm ever in Kelowna BC, I'm tempted to stop here: http://www.thegreenery.ca/products/annuals/exotic-geraniums.html . It looks like they had 'Crystal Palace Gem', which has been on my wish list since I've seen it on this forum. Bourban, I am stunned at the variety of scents available in scented leaf geraniums - from nutmeg to oak! If I lived in the states I would be immersed in the Geraniacea.com website, some of the flowers on the scented varieties are very attractive too: http://geraniaceae.com/cgi-bin/listPlants.cgi?major=Pelargoniums&minor=Scented-Leaf . They also have 'Appleblossom Rosebud,' I wonder if it looks as good in person as online? It is the most stunning pelargonium flower I have ever seen.... My variegated types are a little faded/leggy right now because they are indoors. I found the tag, this is indeed Mrs. Pollock: Here is 'Brocade Cherry Night', I hope it blooms, flowers are similar to the double rosebud type in a vibrant dark cherry colour: 'Brocade Fire’ is still standing out, it's the only one blooming even with the limited indoors lighting....See MoreWhat is your favourite public rose garden?
Comments (10)I wish I had seen all these wonderful gardens. Apart from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Bronx rose gardens, I have been to very few. I was very impressed by the Barcelona Rose garden when I saw it 15 years ago. The rose is Barcelona's official symbol and they take it very seriously, and of course their climate is superb for growing roses.. The beds were arranged chronologically, as I recall, and the collection was comprehensive, well labeled, and spacious, the model of how a rose great garden should be IMO: namely both historically informed and delightful. But I think the BBG is also great and improving yearly. I'm so glad I'm able to hop over there whenever I feel like it. Meantime, I hope people will keep posting pictures of the wonderful gardens they visit. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g187497-d2625535-Reviews-Jardin_de_Rosas_de_Cervantes-Barcelona_Catalonia.html#photos;aggregationId=&albumid=101&filter=7...See MoreWhat is your favourite scent?
Comments (34)every time i see this post.. i have another list ...lol ... the real trick is volume of flowers ... which on a shrub...as it ages.. takes care of itself .. but with the smaller plants ... its volume of plants ... if you want your socks knocked off ... that and a lawn chair.. so you can move around and actually sit near the display.. on the few days when the show is at peak .... it will be hard to plant things.. and hope and pray.. the aroma wafts up to the deck ... i am sure i have had neighbors wondering.. what the heck i was doing out back of the garage ... or out in the far corner of the yard ..... with a 6 pack cooler.. for 3 evenings .... staring at a garden bed .. but then.. by that time.. they already knew... lol ken...See MoreWhat's your favourite type of fondue?
Comments (22)Okay, gentle heating rather than searing, but you still have to Prep, build your base, stir, making sure it doesn't break, prep and possibly cook the dippees, etc. If it feels like a vacation to you, that’s what counts. I hope you have a lot of fun! Shabu shabu, if made right, is the best of the broth type, IMO, because the slices are wafer thin and the meat cooks as fast as you can blink. But you still have to like boiled meat. The sauces are all important. The high salt level helps to disguise the boiledness. It's not hilarious, the way cheese fondue (especially when heavy on the wine) is. It's not particularly delicious, the way teppanyaki is. It's a great way to make restaurant patrons cook their own food and pay extra for the privilege. ;)...See Moretheforgottenone1013 (SE MI zone 5b/6a)
