Creative ideas for tiny bathroom needed
Comments (10)Thanks for thinking along. There is a drain in the shower, but the lack of separation combined with the small size of the room will still lead to everything getting wet. I have thought of a glass separation, but it will also block the way from the door to the sink. A store showed me doors that can fold inwardly. That sounds amazing, but they're also very expensive and I need to re-rout the water pipes... Yes, I am in the NL. How'd you discover that? ;)...See MoreFinally! It looks like a room, instead of a mess of toys! Pics
Comments (33)Homeagain, the walls were originally knotty pine. I had to seal each and every knot with kilz primer, then we painted them. I know many would consider it a mortal sin to paint wood, but I just wasn't feeling the orange, and it was so dark and dreary in the rooms. We get very little natural light b/c of all the tree cover outside, so I wanted to brighten it up. I think I've posted photos of what it looked like before. The color of the paint is called Malted Milk by Valspar at lowes. I love it. Thank you all for the compliments....See MoreNeed ideas for toy storage!
Comments (18)We live in a single wide mobile home and will until we have the second income and then we'll get a little bigger house (DH and I really just want a ranch with a basement so he and I can have our "hobby" rooms instead of my craft stuff being hidden all over the house! LOL) Our kid's stuff is ALL in their bedrooms. We have learned to only keep the toys that are played with. I have also become more careful about the toys we bring in the house so we're not just blowing money on junk nobody will touch and then I'll end up tossing. In DS's room, he has bins that fit under the bed with toys in them and also things across his top shelf in the closet and I had DH put three shelves in the corner of his closet. DD's room has bins under the bed, along with her Graco doll stroller and Barbie house (it folds up and is really skinny). In her closet, she has a small shelving unit on the one side with toys (clothesbasket on one holds her dolls and special stuffed animals, Dora house, smaller bins with her Littlest Pet Shop, Barbie and Polly Pocket things). We also bought her a 'pantry' cupboard that holds her books, all her art stuff, her jewelry and hair stuff and some other things. Everything is picked up and put away in it's place. When the kids were little and I did have like baby stuff in the living room, I "hid" stuff in other things that fit in with the room and nobody would really know there were toys in there. Also, when we had our old coffee table, I had one of those wicker laundry baskets that fit underneath the table and had the baby toys in it. It was out in the open but cleaned up :)...See MoreTiny Kitchen Tiny Budget Ideas
Comments (16)frmsdghtr, I know you said you have a tiny budget. I agree that a galley kitchen is the way to go. You would have so much extra storage space and prep space. This kitchen space looks very similar to many homes I saw growing up, although the wall to the basement stairs was always enclosed. I would sincerely encourage you enclose the wall space by the basement stairs. Having it dry walled would allow you to have wall cabinets. I think it would be dangerous to have an opening to the basement stairs in the area above cabinets on the bottom (not just for items falling over the edge, but your kids, their playmates, your friends' kids...you know how they never go on the counters when you're not looking). You could also explore putting your fridge on that wall. A counter depth fridge would give it a more built in look. We did that in our kitchen in order to make placing the fridge in a different space work. They are a bit more pricey and have less storage space. We have our old fridge in the garage for overflow that doesn't fit in the kitchen and it's worked out fine. And if you don't have an extra fridge, there are plenty on Craigs List. Please let us know what you end up doing....See MoreJAN MOYER
