Painting half scored brick home
Comments (0)I have recently purchased this home and find the green to be dark and dim. I typically like bright colors, especially yellows. I thought of painting the home yellow and leaving the brick as it is, it is scored so it wouldn’t paint or whitewash well. I thought since the brick is a warm tone, kind of a orange-red color, that I should go with warm tones. But someone told me to use a cool tone, such as a gray or blue to make the brick look better. I had not thought of that and actually thought the opposite, that if the brick is a warm color then the paint should be a warm color. I have placed a few sample spots of yellow on the house - but where I live (in Phoenix, AZ.) the sun tends to fade yellow homes and you really don’t know what it will end up looking like later on. Any suggestions would be GREAT, all I know is I think of the army when I see the color it is now and that just isn’t the look I’m going for....See MoreCurb Appeal Help for 1970 half stone colonial!
Comments (29)@jkissiah - Confession - I am using Microsoft Excel and the Windows Snipping tool to do the mockup - Most people have the same tools and can just cut and paste to make this type of "Mock Up". I just play with some of these tools more than some others due to my work. Color changes I did using SW Color Snap Visualizer. I don't know that I like the idea of a pergola, I would want the front look to continue across the front of the home, but I would consider sky lights over each window. I did simply show you what it would look like if it continued. I like it, but I agree with katinparadise - you have a pretty house and you have to know what the improvement would bring to your family and if it is worth the investment. Without doing anything else, I think you could improve the look with a little paint. I feel like the white is very bright in comparison to the stone. I don't think I would go gray - the roof is already gray and looking at the updated picture of the shutters - they are also more gray than blue. I think adding more gray will become a gray blob. However adding a creamy color will help blend the stone and the siding. I would keep the bright white windows and trim....See Morehelp! paint colors half red brick half siding

Struggling for paint scheme that looks refined, updated traditional. And doesn’t call too much attention to the half brick 70s vibe. Comments (4)landscaping will play a big role in your curb appeal. I'd also square off the garage door. let me show a bunch of pics of similar homes and you can decide what you like. almost identical to your model. Notice the transom window over the new front door, the shake siding. (you'd have to paint your brick. Romabio!) the arbor over the garage door, but more importantly, look at the beautiful landscaping. same w/these most of them have the elevated front porch like yours. ok, now the house I love this dark moody siding and garage door color. You need a garage door jus like this. with the white trim, it would match your white windows. grayish green color. shake and siding. transom window again. this was one that Bargain Mansions did. it looked like yours. she replaced the upper siding w/the vertical board and batten, and painted the brick white. added the black windows. new lighting, and new front yard. it was rather inexpensive but had a big impact want to go MCM? love this one you could totally do your house like this one. they painted the brick, siding, new larger upper window and new doors. and lighting and landscaping. lastly, if you keep your brick and just picked a new siding color. and new doors. kind of blah, but it looks better than what it did....See More- 6 years ago
