New (in U.S.) Persil laundry detergent
Comments (16)When I was first married I worked in the office at an appliance and hardware store that kept their own in store service department. Remember those days? A licensed appliance repair person (he really was our own 'maytag man'), drove a store van stocked with parts and there were more in the storage room at the store so a service call was a one stop accomplishment ;) The service man taught all of us younger women how to do laundry and it stuck. I don't understand how the pods would work for me (I do use them in my dishwasher)...one of his rules was start with about half the amount of soap indicated on the box or jug. Lift the lid and check, is it too much, or a load more heavily soiled where more might be required. He pointed out like fertilizer companies, soap companies are in the business of selling soap and the more you use, the bigger their profit whether good for your machine or your clothes. I've never in my life used the full measurement of soap when doing laundry. I've seen the Persil mentioned on the laundry forum but haven't seen it in a store. I buy powered Tide at Costco, the HE version now, and I don't buy it very often, a box lasts months and I do some heavily soiled laundry....See MoreHow to use liquid Persil as prewash/stain treater?
Comments (2)A squeeze bottle sounds good. I just put it on straight with no dilution. I was using it on some t-shirts with set in yellowed pits that I was going to throw away and put it on with a tooth brush. It was the only thing that has worked on that. It was pretty amazing. My biggest problem when I used Tide was that it broke down some of the more fragil dyes in cotton shirts and would leave a lightened area. The Persil has gotten all my difficult spots (blood, cooking fats) out, even some that were set in without leaving a lightened area. If you want to spray you would have to dilute it quite a bit but I am not a fan of aerosolizing chemicals and then having them in the air so I would not do that....See MoreCheer vs Persil Pearls
Comments (31)I have had several issues with the GG pods in my Miele. I actually quit using them for several weeks, until yesterday. Originally, I put the pod in the back of the tub before I added laundry. The semi-dissolved pod immediately made its way into the tub boot and smeared its self on the glass. This happened twice in a week. Then I tried it in the dispenser drawer, and it dissolved. With a full, absorbent load it all gets flushed away. A small load, nope. So, now I just use a bra/mesh bag or a sock or a pillowcase to deliver the pod to the wash. My washer is set up to only fill with cold water, which probably affects how quickly the pods dissolve. I also wash fuller loads than most people, which could potentially delay dissolving. Europeans tend to wash fuller loads than Americans, at full capacity. Since I have a European washer, I wash like it, because the machines are designed that way. I already do a ton of laundry and could not imagine washing 1/2 to 3/4 full loads all the time!...See MorePersil (USA) Power-Pearls being discontinued??
Comments (91)Yes, allergic to Tide Free and Gentle AND Tide Pur. It's very frustrating. I've tried All Free and Clear, but it has been a while. I bought a ton of Wisk Pure and Free?, but I ran out of that sometime last summer, and I don't have anymore. The Biokleen is only HE because it requires less detergent. I don't know that I trust it. I tend to have to use quite a bit of detergent when washing, though I haven't had sudsing issues with most detergents, even with adding STPP. I'm super bad about getting stains out, but I do wash diapers, and they have to be clean. I'm hoping that the toddler decides to potty learn soon, but he's not super excited about it. I need to use something with OB's in it because I hate dingy whites. When I used only Country Save, everything was dingy. :(...See Morelivebetter
