Backsplash Tile and Cabinet Molding

We've finished our kitchen and are moving on to the backsplash. I would like to install the backsplash all the way up the wall to the ceiling around the kitchen window and the range hood. this is posing a problem though as the cabinet crown molding has curves and tile installation in those areas will be pretty challenging. I now know that It would have been better to have installed the tile prior to the cabinet crown details, but I had no idea what type of tile I wanted to go with at the time. The cabinets are painted so removing the crown to install the tile isn't an option. I'm concerned that we would never be able to replace the crown without seeing cracks etc..

My husband is leaning towards just leaving the backsplash the same height all the way around and painting the wall from the cabinet bottom to the ceiling. I am not fond of that, but I don't have an easy solution. Surely others have run into this issue. Any suggestions for me?

I hope the photos are helpful...Thanks!
