There are professional style 24"gas ranges, the best being Bluestar, but they're very expensive. I don't like the cheap Summit or Brown ranges. Avanti makes cheap 24" ranges that well, are perhaps O.K. - there are many different models, and some seem very cheap and flimsy- the pricier models seem somewhat better- Perhaps a better gas range for the $$ is Italian and goes under several names with minor differences. Different brands import them under different names. Avanti used to market it as the "Elba" DG2401C- Some online store called Sam's sells 'reconditioned' ones for about $1,000. A place called Rainbow lists it for much more. Delonghi also sells a similar range,Model: DEFSGG24SS or did at one time.- not sure if they're available any more. It's also known as the Verona VEFSGG244SS- Amazon sells it for about $1,830. Fisher Paykel also sells a similar range at a premium price. Fisher Paykel OR24SDMBGX2- $1850 or more. Bertazzoni sells their own gas range for about $2,000.

Here are some possibilities to pull the entire visible space together since it opens onto the kitchen as well. The whole space is a mix of informal (kitchen, living room in distance with slipcovered sofa) and formal (dining room panelling and ornate pendant.) If you're only interested in making one change, skip my Comment. All my suggestions below take into account the kitchen and living room, all visible from the dining room to create harmony in all three areas: --Repaint kitchen and dining room white to match your visible living area on the other side of the kitchen. As mentioned, your dining room and kitchen are dark--dark countertops, dark wall paint, dark floor, dark dining room furniture. Lighter wall paint throughout the entire visible space would give you a sense of flow and airiness. --Remove that decor clock and replace with a beautiful, light colored horizontal landscape art work that will echo the outdoor view of your dining room window. A long, wide art work will give the feeling of another window. Art work can be abstract trees, skyscape, in greens, reds of falls, or whites as below. The creams and whites below echo your dining pendant. You could also do a pairing of two art works on that wall. --Your pendant, though beautiful, seems far too formal for a dining area open to the kitchen and in a mountain house. But if you love it, then pair the ivory color with an art work and nubby linen ivory panels ceiling to at the window per Diana Bier. Also consider a new overhead light in the kitchen to upgrade that space since it's totally opening to the dining area. --Consider adding ivory half slipcovers to dining chairs as shown below since you don't want a rug This will lighten the dining room and, again, echo your pendant and slipcovers at the other end of the space in the living room. (You could also paint the chairs ivory and your counter stools.)

I think that painting the ceiling planks white is perfect for your beachhouse, it just needs to be accessorized correctly so that it doesn't look too white and gray (see illustrations below). For the walls, I suggest a light greige, BM Balboa Mist, that mixes well with white, gray, and wood. Or a neutral gray such as BM Gray Owl. Any paint you choose I highly recomment that you paint a large cardboard (available at Dollar stores) with 2 coats of paint (samples available at paint stores) and walk around the room to see the colour in different lights. For your corner fireplace, it looks like something black on the floor under the fireplace, not sure what it is but I would do a black porcelain tile under and on the sides of the base. You can also replace the spotlight on the ceiling by a more modern black one, Amazon has nice ones around $40. Have fun with your project!
