Pls help with backsplash for dark cabs & bianco romano counter
Comments (5)I am in a hurry, so I am going to post a link to my house photos, which include photos of our bianco romano granite with marble subway tile splash. Sorry for making you scroll down but there are a few photos of the kitchen. We are still very happy with our choices and we did our kitchen in 2004. Here is a link that might be useful: Wood cabs/bianco romano granite/ marble subway splash...See MoreBacksplash and wall color time! Is this too dark?
Comments (10)I think the pc term is directionally challenged :) The slider and window are at 90 degree angles to each other so they cant face NE and SE respectively - they'd have to be on opposite walls for this to be correct. They're either NE and N in which case you get a little morning sun through the sliders, and no direct light through the window, OR SE and S, in which case you are bathed in light most of the day. So, if your kitchen filled with light most of the day this might not be your color. I'd go much brighter and a slightly different hue (like Aquatint SW6936). from mariakillam.com If you get little light this could be a nice deep choice for you, as would be the less saturated SW7617 (Mediterranea) or the more saturated Labradorite (SW7619) and Seaworthy (7620). You should check them all out in your own light. But if the color looks green in your space, you should consider a different hue. Comments (7)I was going to say the same thing as Yvette -- That once you've sealed, you generally can't enhance. BUT - You say when you wet the tiles, that they change color, which makes it sound like they really aren't effectively sealed. If they were well sealed, they wouldn't change color with water. My concern would be for a 'blotchy' result -- where some areas take the enhancer and some don't. Do you have the kind of tile where this wouldn't be fatal? IMO, that would be something like a travertine, where the stone's natural coloration would mask which colors are darker due enhancer and some stay lighter? I'd try a Miracle 511-brand enhancer on an inconspicuous part to see what happens....See MoreBacksplash help - too much?
Comments (23)greenthumbfish - I found mine at Ceramic Tileworks in Maple Grove, MN. (It's made by Florida Tile.) Their website is ceramictileworksmn.com. The medallion is not shown on their website, but I know they had 3 more in stock. Give them a call. I see that southcypress.com has it online, but it is about $45 more than what I paid at Ceramic Tileworks. Not sure what either place charges for shipping. HTH! I love the piece and can't wait to see it on the wall. ccoombs - Can you provide more details/pictures of what you've decided to do? I hope you'll post pictures of your backsplash progress. I have searched and searched and haven't found pictures of these metal inserts/rope installed. Thanks!! Good luck with your install:) remodelfla - Thanks for your suggestion and encouragement. I'll take a look and see what the ceramic store has for a matching liner and how that looks with the medallion....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
