Pls help with backsplash for dark cabs & bianco romano counter
Comments (5)I am in a hurry, so I am going to post a link to my house photos, which include photos of our bianco romano granite with marble subway tile splash. Sorry for making you scroll down but there are a few photos of the kitchen. We are still very happy with our choices and we did our kitchen in 2004. Here is a link that might be useful: Wood cabs/bianco romano granite/ marble subway splash...See MoreHelp! Backsplash too blah?
Comments (3)jreuter - I didn't even notice that the crisscross pattern in the pendants and glass cabs corresponded. Thanks for pointing it out. It's like when you stare at something so long you can't see it anymore. I had also thought about doing a subway tile pattern across, but you're right about the diagonal. bmorepanic - I like your suggestion on emphasizing the horizontal. Maybe have the tumbled stone tiles in three different shades of white and beige in a random pattern? The ones in the pic were country beige color, so some color differentials might give depth to the backsplash....See MoreBacksplash sealed - is it too late to enhance?
Comments (7)I was going to say the same thing as Yvette -- That once you've sealed, you generally can't enhance. BUT - You say when you wet the tiles, that they change color, which makes it sound like they really aren't effectively sealed. If they were well sealed, they wouldn't change color with water. My concern would be for a 'blotchy' result -- where some areas take the enhancer and some don't. Do you have the kind of tile where this wouldn't be fatal? IMO, that would be something like a travertine, where the stone's natural coloration would mask which colors are darker due enhancer and some stay lighter? I'd try a Miracle 511-brand enhancer on an inconspicuous part to see what happens....See MorePlease help! Light vs Dark backsplash?
Comments (9)I like the darker tile, too. However, I would wait as cpartist suggests. We have a white floor with dark lower cabs and white uppers. The dark lowers ground the space so I don't mind the white floors - but just to clarify ours are a mottled stained white cork. I'd never do a solid white floor. I'm just not tidy enough for that....See MoreRelated Professionals
