Debbie, I know it does you little good, but this is the kind of thing a good designer or general contractor prevents by looking into the future and specifying a continuous plug mold at the cabinets and eliminating the duplex receptacle from the wall. Your picture is lack of comprehensive thinking personified.

looks great, but my stone is not flush, so I think we will have to use the previous suggestion of grouting around the switch plate.

I see a link has been provided, but these are generic and made by many companies.

They are intended for exterior use where they are exposed, so are nicely finished and heavy duty.

Try to find a cover that comes to the edge of the extender with little or no overlap.

To me, this is simply an appearance issue and easily fixable.

First, remove the cover plate and use patching compound or joint compound to mask that wire mesh. Then paint and put the cover plate back on.

Second, don't bother with box extenders, etc. What you have after fixing the esthetic problem with the mesh showing are recessed receptacles. That's especially useful when you have furniture or countertop appliances you want to place as close to the wall as possible. If you look at it that way, you can make lemonade out of these lemons without a lot of unnecessary work.

Measure from the face of the rock to the electrical box. Take off the one piece of store veneer and get the proper depth mud ring. You can buy these at any big box store.
