Thank you. Unfortunately, he's not interested. I don't know what's up with this guy. He seems incredibly stubborn and just doesn't care. I saw his girlfriend one day when she was visiting. I got around to mentioning the tree and she immediately became defensive. She said - "I love that tree and it's there to stay." She's rarely ever at his place so I can't understand why she would care one way or other. I think she said it just to annoy me, which it did, lol. Anyway, you make some good points. I should have kept a journal of all the times I had to clean up after that tree and pull saplings and also the trees that were beginning to take hold - so much so that I no longer could pull them from the ground. I had to saw them off and spray the tops with a tar residue. I can't imagine what is growing around and in his property. I pray there isn't another Maple tree growing. The properties on our street are not large, so another tree with seed pods would be a nightmare. To take that tree down now would likely cost a thousand or more. I don't know for certain though but it would be expensive because the tree has grown very big. I couldn't afford to pay for it either. Last year, I raked up at least 8 or more large trash bins of leaves and pods. This coming Fall will be that much worse. It is what it is and I have to just deal with it as best I can.

Yes this is an old thread, but extremely relevant; especially in light of Covid and all the insanity it is breeding. I have two nasty neighbors, so I got the luck of the draw. One on each side. The neighbor to the left was syrupy sweet for a few months, but that turned. The neighbor to the right is anal as all get out but feels as if he is entitled to encroach on our property, move things, dig our fence up because he felt it wasn’t level, take deck tiles he agreed to buy from me, but never made good on, mow over my outdoor area rug, and “accidentally“ destroy various things. The man isn’t crazy, just anal and entitled at 50 plus years old. Worse than a toddler. Never apologies or offers to replace what was damaged. I have felt like retaliating in several occasions, but I always pull myself together. My husband is now seeing things more and more. You are not crazy. Those that are calling you crazy must be “that crazy neighbor” to someone else or just plain evil and nasty. There are so many people in the world like this. A person entitled and miserable is extremely difficult to live by. I pray your situation has improved. We are hoping to move in a year or so. I will be sure to pay extra careful attention to the neighborhood and make certain there is ample distance between property lines. I want peace!

Agree with the other posts. Why the he// do you stay with someone who, according to you, is wonderful, loving and generous with everyone else including his (not related to him) friends and employees, and treats you and your child like carp? And who expects you to pay for pretty well everything as well as doing all the housework? You're not only a skivvy, but a skivvy who supports this ingrate and enables him to be Mr Generosity to everyone else. I'd be moving back to my place and cutting all ties with this creep. You say you want your children to have a father, but this guy surely cannot possibly be the father you wanted for them, one who gives them the example that Mom is the household slave and who ignores them (forgetting to pick up one from day care???) in favour of others. You may not get child support but then it won't be an unfamiliar situation- you're not getting it now. This guy isn't a husband and father, he's a millstone. Time to slip your neck out of the hole, breathe free and have the chance to find someone who appreciates you, if that's what you want.

Two disclaimers before I start. First, I am not your attorney and this is not legal advice, this time I thought I needed to say that. Next, I tend to be fairly aggressive in stopping this type of BS before it starts taking up too much of my time. ----- If this were one or possibly two neighbors I would advise ignoring it and just moving on. However, at some point it becomes a self-reinforcing problem and I suspect with three neighbors participating you may be at that point. In those situations they don't need your participation in order to have drama, they can participate in the drama with each other and may attempt to escalate in order to get a reaction. In some of these situations their need to prove you are the bad guy will extend to outright criminal behavior in order to get a reaction from you that they can use to prove they were "right about you all along." I am going to focus on one thing specifically and relay what I would have done. Again, this works for my personality but may not for yours. Harassing contractors (yelling, threatening, hovering, spraying with a hose) The above is what I see as your most actionable thing. Especially spraying with a hose as technically that is assault (not saying that you will get a prosecution for it). I would instruct the general contractor that if anyone on the job gets sprayed with a hose that contractor should immediately stop working until they have dried sufficiently to work "safely." Please call the police to report the incident and present me with a separate bill for all the charges related to that delay. I would then present that bill to the neighbor as actual damages caused by their action. I would hand the letter to them as well as mail a copy. When handing it to them I would simply say, "I will give you a chance to settle this but I sincerely hope you don't because I want to escalate it." The whole point of this is to get all the actions out in front of an authority figure. If your side of the story is accurate the judge is likely to do you a solid and issue a warning to them, even in small claims court. This is essentially reporting the bully to the principal. Usually that stops these kinds of problems. Publicly shaming them on the internet is the other option, I just don't love that option as it can get away from you. I guess my only real advice is listen to your attorney but do let him help you stop this now if he thinks he can. Otherwise it is very likely to continue to get worse.
