tomato stems turning brown and dying
Comments (1)he past several years we had a problem with blight but I have treated the garden with a fungacide as recommended by someone. I don't believe treating with a fungicide for tomato or potato blight is enough. You need to rotate your crops regularly and remove diseased plants entirely from your property. Some have success with composting diseased plants but it's not worth the risk of infecting other areas. You can try to use fungicide to control it but if your plants are afflicted, there is little to nothing you can do other than ride it out and get what produce you can (don't save the seeds from diseased plants) or remove the plants and plant something else for fall harvest. Fungicide should be used weekly before the plants show symptoms especially since you have a history of blight in your garden. Your best bet is to plant varieties that are resistant to the disease in the first place and incorporate a healthy amount of compost into your garden so future plants will be more immune to acquiring disease....See Moreleaves turning brown on tomato sprouts
Comments (7)Water them when they are dry and not on a schedule. Miracle Grow potting mix has fertilizer in it already. If you do fertilize dilute it a lot. What the direction say I think it may be a tablespoon per gallon is for grown plants not little seedlings. My tomato plants are three or four weeks old and I haven't fertilized them yet. I may when they get a little bigger but so far the potting mix is fertile enough. I am surprised your plants are still alive after being outside all day. Maybe you are putting them in the shade and out of the wind. Did the brown show up after the fertilizer or before. Your lights in the closet are not the same as the sun so when you put them in sun just do it very gradually....See MoreLeaves and stem turning brown
Comments (3)This seems to be a common problem with tri-color jades. The stem will turn brown and woody as it matures. So that is normal. The leaves, however, seem to be prone to those brown spots. They don't damage the plant, but are unsightly to those of us who would like to have perfect plants. I started this thread concerning the spots. My problem turned out to be edema from too much rain and humidity. Others who posted on this thread did not have the same weather that I do and some had their plants indoors. Maybe this thread will give you some insight to the issue. http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/3509597/those-darn-brown-spots-on-jades?n=14 Please ask more questions if this doesn't help!...See MoreSeedling stems cracking! Comments (2)If your tomatoes are still alive, suggest you plant them into the garden (if temps are appropriate) and set deep enough to cover the questionable portion of the stems. Most likely planting on a slant will work instead of vertical....See MoreLG
