Arranging a collection of prints

I have 12 Godey Fashion prints in a variety of frames and have three walls on which to hang them. How do I do this?

THANKS, lynninnm! I Googled right away & now I know the history! I've always loved them since my Mom displayed them when they moved & she had a special room for her dolls! These NA ones were NOT her style at all...she loved Barbies...& Hollywood star dolls, presidents, TV celebrities, etc! So I was so tickled she gave them some time ago! PURPLEMOON!...you "enabler," you! Sending that link to those beautiful ebay child planters!!! OHHHH,, so cute....the B&G that they call Dutch & call McCoy...I have all the colors of those...and thought they could be McCoy but never could find the "heart with arrow thru it" marking in any books. Yes, Jan, my book also says that black pcs of Lariat were made but very RARE! I've never seen a pc yet! Thanks! And the Lariat "loops" can break (just like Candlewick!) but I've been fortunate enough to only break 1 off in all these yrs! (Knock on wood!) Thanks, everyone, for all your comments..'ppreciate it! My DH is retired & tackles about anything in woodworking...we like to recycle & use alot of barnwood...I will pass on your sweet comments about the cabinet to him! I had seen a pic of a door cabinet some yrs ago & it looked perfect for this project! luvs...the farmhouse was deteroriating so bad ...very old & yes, had some great pcs in it. My sis & BIL had raised their family in it...they are dairy farmers. The Amish came in & took out the cupboards & lots of usable wood ...my sis & BIL was happy about that because all would be bulldozed...I had asked for the door & the old bath window (my Christmas window post) & they let us take anything we wanted. Time was the main issue...as we both worked then & old house had to come down for new one to go up. So we did get some of the beauty! Thanks! Jeanne S. Comments (3)Mostly I don't try to match. I just took a stroll through my house looking at framed stuff. I have a LOT of framed photographs. In my bedroom they are mostly black, because I went through a phase of just wanting black frames. They are not the same style (mostly from Aaron Bros.) so don't look overly matchy. I think if two pieces are meant to be hung as a unit, I'd probably pick matching frames. - 11 years agoHi there! Was out your way looking at colleges (Wisconsin), burr was it cold. Does picture this picture help? Rug is 9 x 12 and was the product of a divorce. Does have some of the wall color and a light green that works with many of prints. Do you need more pictures?
- 11 years agoA little shag for my side of the bed, my husband stayed with the prayer rug, and yes a different look on the bed, duvet for the down we now must use.

- PRO11 years agolast modified: 11 years agoBeautiful colors in this swatch and I agree with LB Interiors - a little too rustic with your prints and oriental rug. Find an old, pastel color that is in the rug and/or prints in an unpatterned fabric similar to silk, taffeta, some polyesters. Do not worry about matching these colors exactly. But they should coordinate.
Be sure to make the panels full - 2.5 to 3 times the width of the window frame. You have room to extend the rods wider than the windows. Add off-white sheers if you like. Get an extra panel to make shams or pillows for the chair. Tie the panels back for a different look. Add tassles to the edges of the drapes or pillows.

- 11 years agoAnd then there is the duvet color . It is so much like the walls, but a nice sheen to it, does this work? I keep hearing LB talk about warm vs cool colors . With the new rug walls and duvet I have a lot of warm!
- 11 years agoI am sure LB and Sandi noticed the nightstand lamps. As poor a choice as the chilli pepper rug? A Lenox base, with a black silk shade . Help!

- PRO11 years ago-- The lamp bases are good! However, the black shades are too contemporary and harsh for your space. If you think about the focus of your room, it is on women's clothing. So, I would suggest a curvier shade in cream.
If you ever want to change the base, find one that is curvier as well. This lamp stuff is found at Target on line.
Your antique coverlet sounds wonderful! Fold it at the foot of the bed or try it, as you mentioned, gently toss it on the chaise. Lucky you!
- 11 years agoThe coverlet is either 1835 or 1853 ..... ? Look at the dates woven into the corner. If you read clock wise it's 1835

I was re reading the comments about layout and mixing orientals together and went to the basement for this old treasure. Not sure if you can see colors well, they are very similar. Now my 17 x 13 room has an 11x 8 rug and a 7.5 x 4 rug

These drapes look pretty good color-wise and appropriate with your prints! A little dressier and they pick up the light blue in the rug. Go ahead and try them - it's the best way to see how they fit in.
Sometimes, the finishing touches do cost more than we would like but might haunt you if you don't at least try them in the room.
Bottom line- they would look really nice and they would pull everything together!

- 10 years agoHad these tie backs laying around but can't figure out how to use them. I have 1.5 yds width per panel (skimpy) , but when I pull them back it looks just too narrow. ny tricks on how to use and maintain illusion of fullness?

What is the style of the tops of your new blue panels?
Thinking you can combine them at the windows for fullness. The natural panels in the center with the blue ones on the edges. If the treatment of the tops is different, use the appropriate rods for them, The blue ones should dominate and be hung on the outside o the natural ones. If the tops are both grommeted, hang them on the same rod.
Or, if you happen to have sheers, you could hang the blue ones over sheers.
As far as the tie backs, pull the natural panels to the center and spread out, bring the blue panels up to them and spread them out to the ends of the rod. Now you have blue panels on the outside edges of the window and the neutral ones in the center.
Then, secure the tie back to the wall, about 2" out from the window frame. This is so that the out side edge of the panel falls straight down from the top of the window frame. Adjust the panels within the tieback so it looks like the blue and natural panels are stitched together. Sort of mimic the folds/pleats at the top. You might have to pin the tieback to the panel on the front edge to keep it from slipping down. Tiebacks can get heavy and slide down the center front edges.
Hanging the blue and natural panels together will almost double the fullness of your drapes. . . Hope it works out!

- PRO10 years agoAs far as a throw goes, find a color in the rug and go with that. You have enough blue in your room now, so look for another color for a change. Also one that as a lot of texture!
