Good to hear! I have mine in pots still. They'll probably stay there for a while yet until I can find a place for them. The heucherella has a small root system so it'll probably remain in the pot until the end of summer when it can have the chance to grow more roots and I can keep a better eye on it. Once plants are in the ground they are mostly on their own. Here are my new heuchies. The back five and the one in the front left came from In The Country, they are (left to right): Heucherella Honey Rose, heucheras Sugar Berry, Sweet Tart, Glitter, Blondie, and Peppermint. The dark one, Blackout, came from Santa Rosa Gardens. The last one is my poor little Southern Comfort I nearly lost that I've been rooting. All there was left of it this spring were two small pieces of crown and no roots. Both were doing okay but then suddenly the tinier crown got eaten or something and I think it's a goner, but the bigger piece is slowly growing. Karen

Last year I tried the Hippodamia convergens species that are the type that most companies sell online. Ants actually brought the crepe scale into my enclose garden greenhouse where I grow tomatoes. Every time I seem to get rid of the ants and the scale, not long after, the ants come back and bring the darned scale back with them. Anyway, i tried those ladybugs last year and oddly enough they had zero interest in even being on my plants, let alone hunting the scale down. They moslty just congregated on the screen, and eventually they all just died off. i tried releasing green lacewig eggs and larvae as well but they didn’t seem to do much good either. In fact, im not even sure if any of the eggs/larvae made it to my house alive. I also tried nematodes, which seemed to keep the ants at bay a bit, but did no good on the scale. I’ve tried neem oil sprays and soil drenches and also several different essential oils (not during the same time I used the beneficial bugs) without results as well. I’m trying to keep my garden organic, so i’m not sure what else I can do? right now I’m somewhat keeping them at bay using double sided tape around the stems of all my plants and supports so the ants cant bring more scale in to farm, which seems to be the most effective solution yet. But I still cant eradicate the remaining scale. those little buggers are a huge pain in my butt, and my tomato plants just hate them. I’m hoping someone here has some good suggestions on what more I can try.
