IMHO .... the tri color's season .... is spring and early summer ... mine ALWAYS starts looking ratty in late august ... by which time.. i either have... other things to look at... or just dont care ... and mine has been in the ground for 10 years ... short of every single leaf turning brown and falling off.. i wouldnt worry about it .. yours is younger.. so extra water wont hurt... but i wouldnt worry about it too much .. as to the others.. are you sure a gallon of water is worth the effort???? ... if you have 7 trees .... e.g. .... i might prefer you gave one tree all 7 gallons one night .. and a different tree the 7, each day of the week .. rather than giving them all a little bit.. all depending on your soil, etc .... it is better to water DEEPLY and infrequently.. rather than otherwise .... sounds like you have a great collection going.. keep up the good work ... ken...See MoreYou know you're a garden geek when you
Comments (10)Invest in a large jar of Sluggo :-) It may not eliminate the problem but will certainly help. Will need to be reapplied freqently, especially if we continue to receive a lot of rain. Always thought slugs were the big issue around here until I moved to a semirural and pretty wooded location and determined it was really snails that were the serious pests. They get places no slugs can get to easily and they can eat everything, including more heavily textured evergreen foliage that most slugs leave alone. Very rewarding to squash them, however, if a bit messy :-)...See MoreYou know you're an addict when...
Comments (6)Blue Palm - what about using a concrete saw and cutting out a few areas in the corners or other "strategic" unused spots in the parking lot, if there is one??? I did that on the side of my house when I wanted to put in a little garden that was just concrete before..... The addiction is hard to shake for sure - as M Kush says, maybe some in pots - hey what about those GIANT concrete pots I've seen around some commercial buildings? Too big and heavy to steal, and you wouldn't have to shuffle them inside and out? Of course, the neighbors and other critters my discover the fruit, so if you do go this way, plant some that only ripen green (as I was told when I planted one in front of my house near the side walk..... ...and don't forget to work the 12 steps!!!!! lol.....mangoflea...See MoreYou Know You're a Redneck Gardener When....

The satellite dish(big, huge variety) was known as the West Virginia state flower.
