I have the same "tree" in the ditch as the original picture in this post and I think the leaves look sumac-like. The hogweed has fern-like leaves. Based on that, what do y'all think we have here with the Queen-Ann_lace flowers and Sumac-like leaves?

I have some Dahlias coming and I chose shorter growers to place in pots. I also have 2 in the ground that have come back for a few years now They are taller and need staking. I dont dig mine up in southern Oregon. Survival of the fittest. The ones in the ground were from the grocery store so inexpensive. But, they have been very nice Dahlias. I have heard that Dahlias like a lot of compost so I am going to try adding more to the pots.

Well, I stand corrected. I've never put Sunpatiens to that level of a test, so I just sort of generally summarized what would be bad for most plants. I have had great success with sunpatiens in less stressful conditions, they are quite resilient regardless. But so are ordinary impatiens, or at least that has been my experience. But not in the hot rocky TX sun, that I can't comment on . . . ironically I have the opposite problems, damp shade.
