Trip to St. Louis on Saturday

A couple of daylily clubs jointly put on a display at Missouri Botanical Garden on Saturday so we decided to go. We had visited the garden on numerous occasions, but had not seen the daylily display since it was redone. I thought you might like to see some pictures.

The clubs put on a display in a meeting room. They had daylilies for sale too. (We bought four although we don't need any more.)

Are You Listening has such a strong edge and pleasing colors. Is this the case of a Bell that thrives in the North? Have the Trimmers proven their vigor? A richly colored group!

Zafo and E.O., Thanks for dropping by to visit me at the convention. It is always nice to put a face to a name( exception being Butch!)LOL! Maryann , I don't recall crossing paths with you. Was I in a daze ? I could have been a little tipsy from all of the "Hostatality juice" so if I did run in to you, and have forgotten , please forgive me! That's great that you posted this. Caribbean Frank League is almost a morbid black, but I rather like it......Mexican Elvis is bold, and Sapphire Summer is beautiful with that lavender pattern....I got Vivacious Spirit this spring, so far I've seen hair on a bald man grow faster. No vigor at all....Plum Surprise rounds out my favorites of a good group of daylilies...........Maryl

Caribbean Frank League is the darkest I've seen. So many daylilies I haven't seen before, interesting patterns too.

Yes, tell us what your purchased. Your photos from the garden tour are excellent! I especially like Are You Listening, Midnight in Paris, /Ruffles Have Ripples and Sapphire Summer. Vivacious Spirit doesn't look as saturated in color as it does in my garden. That one is getting ready to rebloom here. Thanks for all the lovely photos from Missiouri Botanical Garden! I have my laptop set up in my mom's hospital room, so I can at least enjoy photos of daylilies.

Very nice pictures of the daylilies at the MO Botanical Garden. Entwined In The Vine always is a winner to me.

Thanks for sharing these photos! Sounds like a fun day. Caribbean Frank League really stands out. I really like Mexican Elvis, Midnight in Paris, and Sapphire Summer.

We didn't purchase any of the plants shown. My understanding is the local society that maintains the daylilies move some out every year to make room for new varieties. And there are always clumps that need dividing. They have a sale in September. I guess the profits go toward buying new varieties and supporting the garden.

We did buy Bela Lugosi (because of all the praise for it on this forum), Heavenly Whirly Bird, and two small-flowered ones, Aaron's Little Whopper and Little Summer Star.

Late in getting all my commenting in! Sometimes another life gets in the way of my garden life.... I like so many of these!! Mexican Elvis, Spacecoast Devil's Disciple, Midnight in Paris, Are You Listening....The color of Sapphire Summer is beginning to grow on me-wasn't sure about it at first. And thank you so much for posting Regal Finale!! It is in a corner bed and every time I walked by I kept thinking I knew what it was..name was on the tip of my tongue....could not find label...you probably know all the rest! Never came to me until you posted that lovely picture and it all clicked!! I raced out with a new label today. Lovely pics. Lovely lilies.

Of course, being me, Mexican Elvis stole my heart. Love bright ones. Love them! and Entwined in the Vine is hard to beat. So many pretty one, Thank you for posting.

what fun pics!! some of those people were in my garden during regionals in OKC this year. yay for supporting the SL daylily club. we were there a few years ago fro regionals and there are a lot of beautiful gardens. also the botanical center. :) cheers
