vinyl planks for kids bathroom?

moving

We popped into two mom&pop flooring stores and neither carries vinyl sheets. Both wanted us to consider vinyl planks. This is for a ~50sqft kids bathroom with shower over tub. I'm not keen on all those seams for water to get to the subfloor.

In our dream world, we would put down tile, but we have the no-so-great "CA deck plan" and have 48" OC joists with 7' spans. Reinforcing the floor for the weight of tile is a project we were thinking to avoid and just buy the highest-end vinyl floor that we liked. Doesn't work if no one sells highend vinyl. (Yes, HD carries some unattractive sheets we could use.)

So the question -- do people really use vinyl planks in bathroom and they hold up to water? teens and water? On 48" OC joist flex-y floors?
