Laundry room design help for new build

We are building a custom home and I have some questions about my laundry room space.

What would be the best use of this space? Would it be best to put the washer and dryer under the window or along the wall as shown?

I'd like a little bit of space on the counter to fold laundry and space underneath for bins to sort.

I am also considering putting an extra freezer in here instead of in the garage.

I will have a top loading washer so stacking is not an option.

Also, the pantry is to the left and I am considering putting a pocket door from the laundry to the pantry for multi-tasking sake. Good or bad idea?

I initially wanted a pretty sink under the window with a plant shelf above it, but I am realizing that may not be the best option for efficiency.

I like the plan you have. Forget the door between the laundry room and pantry because you will give up storage space in the pantry.

The plan you have right now is fine but realize that if you ever go to a washer FL you will need to switch the washer and dryer. While most dryer doors can switch to hinge on either the left or right (but be sure to check your machine), no FL washer can be hinged on the right. Only the left.

Ditch the door from the pantry. Remember the pantry is smaller now. You don't want to give up another 30" for a door.

I might consider flipping the laundry room and the closet outside of it. Why? I'm not sure you'll want your plumbing in the same wall that backs your pantry?

i would like to make a laundry room in my small home as a christmas gift to myself. i have a small open storage area at the end of the hallway by the back door. its about 3ft wide and 24 inches in depth- the depth is flexible as the back door opens to the back porch. but do plan on getting one of the shallower stacked gas sets. kitchen and bath are on either side of the hallway and close to the planned laundry area. home has a crawlspace and original 1920's wood floors- will reinforce joists from under the crawlspace. breaker box is on the exterior wall just outside the planned laundry area. i know i'll need plumbing, drain, gas, venting and possibly electrical work. question is ballpark figure to expect and what's involved. i will get several estimates but i like to get an idea of the proposed materials and what the hookups should look like. thanks.

This door will be removed. BBQ area will be under here. Not sure if you can tell from the pictures but the concrete is pretty rough. Our PB suggested poring new concrete to bring it to the new level of the door and with the pool and stamping it all to look cohesive. Problem with that is it costs 14k and we would like to put that money into other things.Anyone have any suggestions as to how we can make it blend in and look nice with the new stamped concrete?

I love my laundry room and the shape is similar to yours. Here’s what I would do. Leave the washer and dryer where they are. If you have a basement the dryer can easily vent that short distance. Down and out. Use a “Dryer Box” to get your washer and dryer close to the wall. Mount a wall rod above the washer and dryer for hanging items on hangars to finish drying. I dry very few items completely and 5 ft is plenty. This gives you about 5 ft of hanging. put the sink to the left of the washer. You don’t need a huge sink... get the sink off of the counter space in front of the window which is prime space for folding and organizing. In front of a window, no less. Leave some space under the counter empty to tuck baskets, dog, food, whatever you need to get off or out of your way. Put an outlet under there. put an Iron Away between the studs between the entry door and the counter. You may have to close the door to use it, but I’m on my third one and I love it. we just moved in and everything is a mess or I would get pics.

I like the plan you have. A few things to think about adding to your laundry room:

-A rod to hang dry shirts on (over the w/d works)

-An ironing board

-Shelves or cabinets to store soap, dryer sheets etc.

Miele washers have the door hinges on the right. That's the way they come.

Unless you are getting a condensing dryer, you'll need to consider venting the dryer. There are vent specs with the dryers install instructions. You will want to look at those before you decide where to locate the set, to make sure you are within vent length limits.
