Best way to label plant markers??

Hi all. I wasn't sure where else to post this...

I typically mark all my plants using white plastic stakes, which I currently label with a 'Uni Paint oil-base paint marker'. However, I notice that by the next year, much of the text has worn off, which doesn't really help me much.

Can anyone recommend a type of marker (ideally with a fine point tip) that has better holding power, especially when a significant portion of the stake is also in the actual soil? (Note that of course I always wait for the ink to dry before I put the stake in the ground...but still, it wears off over time...)
