Tub/shower combo or tub and shower stall
Comments (15)I know I probably went overboard, but I have been searching Houzz for shower/tub combos for myself if I decide to go in that direction. Most of these pictures have Master Bath titles - they tend to be small houses or apartments in large cities where space is an issue. They all have a generous sized tub. A few have extra shower bling and even a separate tub filler. All of them have material choices and the level of tile work that you see in a master bathroom. I'm sure that if I searched Houzz I could find just as many, or even more, remodels of small master baths where they have just built a walk in shower. I think the decision to do a shower/tub may be a personal choice because they want a soaking tub - since they are titled Master I'm assuming the bath is not the only bath in the house and they could easily just go with a shower. Comments (16)When I was looking for 3 toilets to replace in house we were remodeling, the first toilet we bought from local HD would not fit together (two piece Cadet 3 I think)...the contractor took it back twice and couldn't get a good fit either time. I went to plumbing supply place cause I needed a specific part for Roman tub not available at Lowes or HD and talked to guy there... He said that what often happens is that big box stores sell "seconds" basically--products like a two piece toilet which came separately are much more difficult to find good matches/fits than the ones sold through his company where the two pieces came in one box...I ordered 3 of same toilets from him and cntractor didn't have any issues with installation at all... He said that plumbers would not waste the time homeowners would taking stuff back that didn't work right... I know that often times, faucets sold at HD and Lowes come sans handles so you have to buy those and often times both prices are more $ than when ordered as one unit from a plumbing supply place... I ordered almost every bathroom and kitchen fixture on line from company I can't remember now--cheaper, no sales tax, and better quality... I wonder if the tile like DalTile sold at the Big Boxes are maybe border line seconds as well--where the color isn't quite fired right or the edges are not quite as even/smooth......See MoreSharing my Bathtub Research
Comments (36)I'm in the thinking-about-it stage of redoing my guest bath. It has a shower over tub and I plan to keep it that way. Currently I have a framed bypass glass door that sits atop the tub. In my master bath I don't have a tub but the alcove is the same size. I have an unframed bypass door there. Although the open look of one piece of glass is very appealing, I do not understand how you contain the water, even with your showerhead facing down, and I'm not sure that I want to be constrained to stand in one spot. I don't take wild showers where water gets flung every which way. However, at the end of my shower I squeegee every time without fail. The back door (the one missing in belasea's bathroom) is just as wet and drippy as the one closer to the showerhead. I don't know if it's from splashing or condensation. But I do know if there wasn't a glass door there it would end up on the floor or walls....See MoreNew jade arrivals from Australia and Italy
Comments (57)Hi I have finally taken a photo, sorry it's dark (end of the day). I copy/paste my former comment. I had to delete it because I couldn't add the photo : Camellia, my variegated Blue Bird is not growing anymore, it seems dormant and looks exactly the same. We had an exceptionnal heat wave for 2 weeks with temps over +35°c and some plants didn't like it (the less rooted ones, the smallest ones and/or the more variegated ones). As Legolas and variegated Gollum keep growing (very slowly), I conclude that my variegated Blue Bird is not rooted enough to face the heat. It should grow again with the first rains of september or october....See MoreRelated Professionals
