I am also of the opinion that it is too close a proximity for comfort, for me. You will never meet a bigger animal lover than me. We have [humanely] trapped and relocated possums from our garage, snapping turtles that wandered into the yard, and even a rat that we found living under our porch. It appeared to be a pet that had escaped...white with black spots. We actually found the rat a loving home, believe it or not. This summer we spent a few weeks trying to trap a rabbit. He was running through our backyard every night when I had the dogs out playing fetch. At first it was kind of funny, but one of my dogs was getting really good at chasing him, and I was afraid he was going to be successful soon. I did not care to witness a violent death, and I didn't want my dog to experience that either. We figured out his path and set a trap outside the fence, and one night, there he was!! We released him in a more appropriate habitat. I am all for letting nature be, but as Jim said, if it is a threat to the health or safety of my family or my pets, sorry little buddy, but we're going to have to find you somewhere else to live. :) I would also be concerned about the one with the hurt paw. :( I hope you can find someone who will help you! Coyotes eat everything they can dead or alive & are opportunists.Here in AZ they take many peoples pets-dogs,cats. They can and will take down a full grown fox or good sized dog or lrg. cat especially if there are more than one coyote hunting together. In Southern Ohio where my sister lives they actually have a coyote watch system set up;when someone sees a coyote in their yard or close by they call a special city number and then a call system actually calls all the houses in the area letting everyone know to keep watch over their pets when they are let out in the yards. We as people have built buildings, streets everywhere and the coyotes have and will continue to adapt to the environment that we are overtaking. They keep smaller animals (rabbits,mice,rats)under control. Everything on the planet has it's purpose even if we humans finds whatever it is to be a nuisance.

Yes, most likely mange, either demodectic or sarcoptic, but there are other possibilities, particularly since mange can be very difficult to identify just by looking at the skin. A skin scraping is needed for a positive ID on mange. Severe flea infestation can also bring on skin problems such as dermatitis which is another possibility. A third, and less likely possibility, is skin problems from poor diet or food allergies. Thyroid problems can also cause skin disorders that resemble your photo. Without running blood tests, such as a T-4 or general health profile, or taking a skin scraping to look for mange mites, it is very difficult to tell from just looking at a photo exactly what it is. However, the bottom line is that it needs help to survive, especially since it already seems to be affecting the eyes, which is essential for survival in the wild. Kt

Oh yeah, coyotes are adapting to increasing habitat destuction and they are thriving because they are scavengers and learning to live with people. Wildlife biologists who study the increase in population learned by dissecting coyotes that the urban coyote's number one source of food was garbage and their second source of food was the domestic cat. Coyotes have discovered that domestic cats and dogs are easy prey. There was even a rumor that a female coyote in heat will run with a suburban neighborhood, getting the local dogs to chase her and then lead them out into an area where they dogs are circled by the coyote pack. And biologists have also said that modern coyote dens are littered with the collars and tags of cats and dogs.
