I would put in a well vented laundry closet to prevent the room from becoming too damp while using the laundry. I think it is also more peaceful to enjoy getting ready in your new calm bathroom without being reminded of the need to do the laundry chores.

Hmm, that's tough. I think building a wall or cabinetry around it is ideal if you can, but I would ask what kind of laundry routine you have. Basically because if you make it too enclosed and it's always open, it's just going to be a nuisance. Do you do a lot of sorting and treating in the laundry area? Do you run multiple loads and fold there?

What style of washing machine and dryer? Front loaders for both or top loader for the washer? High end or basic? Stackable style with front controls or a console on the back top of the machines?

Thanks to each of you for replying. In terms of usage, I generally put off laundry as much as possible. These will be on the third floor of my newly acquired townhouse, and I hope to be more diligent in loading and washing. Still, it will not be anything like daily use. The washer and dryer are high end LG, front loaders. I wanted my contractor to stack them but he said it would not work to have water lines and vent in the same line of space between studs. So they won't be awful to look at with the right countertop and shelving or cabinets to match the rest of the bathroom. Basically, taking all of your comments together, I think I should probably just go back to having a full wall between the shower and w/d--no glass divider--and put sliding closet doors on the laundry (maybe mirrored). That solves my need to match cabinets and does separate the "work"--laundry--from the enjoyment of the beautiful new bathroom. Really appreciate your ideas!!

I decided to go back to enclosing the laundry area and am using Ikea Auldi mirrored doors to close it off.

How about something like this rich blue, would give a really nice contrast to the grey.

Thanks for asking. I bought two different versions of the James Martin Brittany vanity. A 36" one in dark wood for my entry powder room and a 72" in urban gray for my master bath. I got granite and quartz tops and sinks locally. The cabinets are gorgeous and great quality. They arrived in great condition and I love the self close drawers and doors. The only glitch was with the stone contractor whose associate twice made measuring mistakes. I had to have my contractor cut a tiny slice off the back of each of the top pullout drawers because the sink opening should have been back by one inch and the drawers could not open otherwise. So be careful with that. My only complaint is that I had to buy baskets for the interiors to hold toiletries, hair dryer, etc. because the interior shelves do not pull out. They should consider offering that as an option as makers of other cabinets do. My assessment is that they are well priced compared to the competition. Hope you enjoy them. For the others who tried to help me, it turned out that I could not enclose the washer/dryer after all so I made a countertop out of the same quartz as the sink top and bought off the shelf overhead white cabinets from Lowes to go over my LG washer and dryer. They are Shaker style and look fine with the James Martin vanity. Found matching knobs which ties things together.

Thanks. I wanted to enclose the washer and dryer but my contractor had not measured correctly (!) and it would have been impossible to use the W/D with doors in front of them. As it is, as you said, it makes life easier and I actually keep up with wash as opposed to having it pile up in the basement. It is a lot more practical than having a soaking tub that you rarely use. I actually bought a couple of fold out devices for hanging clothes but have never gotten around to installing them. The rod in the shower works well enough. My only regret is combining the shower floor rounds with square accent tiles in the shower. I love both tiles but not together. Maybe in a few years I will care enough to change them.

Thanks so much for getting back to me! I decided I wanted a blue vanity for our master bath, so ordered one from Strasser Woodworks in Lapis Blue. I will likely get a James Martin when we redo the guest bathroom. Your bathrooms look lovely!
