I am using compact fluorescent at 18 watts to 23 watts. with a temperature range from bright white to daylight. on the citrus floor and warm white to bright white on the ground floor. My choice on bulbs is made by sales. All the pieces are precut and take about 2 hours to assemble and 1 hour to disassemble. It is used for the citrus trees and starting other seed trees to give them a 4 month jump on spring. The ground level is for vegetable starts in spring and growing greens in winter holding pepper plants from 1st frost till the some 50 peppers ripen. The 2 plant you see in the bottom are pepper plants ripening their peppers. At this time I am bout to start harvesting greens. march i'll start my pepper and egg plants for smummer

Just wanted to give everyone an update. I am very happy with how my Meyer Lemon cutting has grown since the pics (repot) above in March. I really do like these pots a lot. I have been watering every 3 days, I give the cutting 1 tbsp foliage pro / gal once a week, and just try to give it as much sun as possible. Seems to be doing very well.

I'll trade ya mike. It hit 119 in my back yard today, my irrigation is on restriction, I can only water a couple days a week right now due to the drought and my trees are not looking well at all. It is going to be a long, wretched, hot summer in southern Cali. Oh and my lawn and everyone else's lawn in my neighborhood is brown from lack of water. Yuck. Evan

It's 5 parts pine bark, 1 part perlite and 1 part potting soil. I put the mix together in a separate container by measuring out the parts and then stirring it together by hand. When I had it ready I carefully pulled the tree out of its pot. My daughter held it steady in the shade with the root ball in a container of water while I emptied the old dirt out of the pot and replaced it with the 5-1-1 mix. Then I gently rinsed most of the old dirt away from the roots, and I cut off a few small roots that were looking like they might have started rotting. I did this while keeping the roots under water the whole time and in the shade. Most of the roots looked healthy. Then I put the tree into the pot and poured more of the mix on top to cover the roots. After that I thoroughly watered it. The tree was out of the pot for probably 5-7 minutes. I hope I did it right! I'm not supposed to fertilize for a bit now, correct? I think the tree will be happier now. I was surprised how much water the old soil had retained. Near the bottom it was almost sopping wet.
