Any pointers on painting laminate cabinets? Pics?

I've seen threads on this but unfortunately the photos are from the old board and I cannot access those.

I have a 1985 rental condo and don't want to spend a lot on the bathroom vanity at this point (I know this is the kitchen forum but this gets much more activity).

The bathroom cabinets are original and are cheap laminate. Are there any specifics on painting laminate that are different than real wood? (I painted our current home's bath cabinets which held us over until we could do the gut so I've been kind of through this).

Any "after" photos?

I think my order of operations are:

clean with TPS substitute

sand

wipe clean

prime (Zinsser 123 primer (and sealer?) -I really don't want to use oil-based if possible),

sand again

then two coats of paint.

Any recommendations on paint specifics?

My recently graduated daughter is living there so I know she won't trash it (yes, really) so white paint will work for a few years until I decide the next step.

I know it's bad but just want to pretty it up a bit!

Thanks! And here is a photo of what I'm working with.
