I know what you guys are thinking. I don't have room for some of the ones I have now but there was a reason! It's not a very good reason, but it's still a reason :D

We were having a look at some of the local nurseries today just for something to do. (as you do, lol) We went to one that we hadn't visited in a couple of months. They had a shipment of hoyas back then and I may have bought a couple.. Today I saw the ones that were left. They were outside undercover but with no shelter from the cold and it's now Winter. They all looked pretty dead. Sadly there was a beautiful big finlaysonii I talked myself out of last time because it was a bit more than I wanted to pay. It had beautiful big patterned leaves. This plant is now a big yellow and brown rotting mess :( The others left were all in the same contition (couple of tsangiis, (the hoya odette ones) and a lauterbachii.)

Then there was this one.

Now, I already have two Minibelles already and certainly don't need a third. But seeing it sit there, happy and healthy amongst the other poor dying hoyas, I couldn't leave it! Look at the happy lil guy! I saw it there last time but as I said, didn't need another one but this time I bought it, I figured it had earned it!. (also, it was cheap, lol) Plus now I know it can handle our Winters outside under cover I can keep it outside in the greenhouse where I do have room. I might even pot it up with my spare KQ and krinkles that I have stashed out there looking lonely.

It's a survivor :D

Lydia, yours does look identical to my "Sweetheart" I'd love to compare flowers sometime when the darn things finally bloom. It seems like a stable "whatever it is" as I've seen quite a few for sale here in Aus, I think Adam (in here from Aus) bought one as well? It does look like a pubicalyx cross, maybe with carnosa? it's very carnosaish as well. Mine grew a peduncle after a year from a small plant so whatever it is, it may be an early bloomer, in your case, if the darn thing finally commits to it! :D

Also, you might want to take a look at this picture... I know NOTHING about dischidia, so I'm just guessing what it might be if it happened to be a hoya. I think all the carnosa cultivars have the light pink flowers. And "rubra variegated" is the same as one of the 'Krimson' cultivars, though without going to look at my list (which I have on my main computer, upstairs), I can't remember which. Congrats on your new Hoya, SW! Denise in Omaha

Looks like a carnosa. Of course, there are so many carnosa X carnosa crosses AND carnosa X pubicalyx crosses in circulation, that it is next to impossible to narrow it down to a specific cultuvar. It is a very pretty specimen, regardless!

OMGoodness, Dave! Surely you have set a record in the number of "potted hosta" category held by a hosta-lover who does not own a nursery business!?! Have you shared pics of all of those 58 with us yet or are you holding out, hmm? Slippery slope is a contagion.... ;-) Hartogken, I think that about RB each and every time I see it too! Love the clean and crisp and distinct look of it? It won't eat my other hostas - maybe I'll bump it up the list....;-)

I would put all of the Minibelles together for one big pot. That's what I'm doing this year - my "extras" that I don't want to part with have to be potted together or they go on the "for sale" list!

I already have one big pot of Minibelles! Plus the other is snuggled into a pot with some thing called "Sweetheart" which is not kerrii, but the name for some carnosaish looking thing here in Aus. That's why I'm going to shove this new one in with the other related plants. Which, thanks for reminding me, I'm going to do right now because it's a nice sunny day for once!

Speaking of "Sweetheart" Remember I have a similar one to yours. It is covered in peduncles!! Never bloomed! Still growing and growing pushing out peduncles every other node. Don't know what else to do to it to make it bloom :-/

Where did it come from? It only says "sweetheart", nothing to indicate a species or cross? It's always frustrating when you can't find information on a Hoya. I got one from Ric last year named obscuranervia, and nothing comes up on google about it. He says he got it from Chris Burton many years ago, so knowing it came from her I trust the name. But it would be nice to find some information on it!

I remember your sweetheart, Lydia! We were hoping for flowers. Still no flowers??? Mine grew a lil peduncle. I'll see what happens next Spring.

Mine came from Susan. At the time I bought it it wasn't properly labeled. I messaged her and she told me to label it as SMS 2010-77 one of her cross seedlings....it looks so similar to triffidmoss "Sweetheart"... To me it looks like a large minibelle....the first tag on my plant said "pubicalyx type" which was probably like a note to herself at the time....it's a beautiful Hoya! I love it! A very easy grower too. Can't wait for flowers

Denise, Hoya obscurinervia (Merr.) is synonymous with Hoya pottsii (Traill).

Hoya obscurinervia, as described by Elmer D. Merrill, in the Phillipine Journal of Science, Vol. 23 (1923), p. 263-264:

About Hoya pottsii (Traill): I could find no info in IPNI on this. There is a lovely writing on Hoyas from Mr. James Traill (including descriptions in understandable English, and a description and illustration of Mr. John Potts' original plant), if you'd like to read it:
