Gray paint in north-facing rooms
Comments (10)I love the cabinet color you've chosen and your granite! I'm not the best person to comment, but I DO speak fluent SW, so I'll venture an opinion. First, is your property country (mature trees in back) or suburban (clear cut, view of nieghbour etc) I have a southern exposure for my LR but trees mean little direct light, and much of it has a weird (to me) greenish tinge after reflecting off trees. Something to consider. Second, are you in a northern or southern area? That will also affect the quality of light in your windows. Also, your cabinets and granite seem quite warm toned in the photo--definitely use them to coordinate your color! My impression looking at them is that Silver Strand, which I've tested, wouldn't work at all. Minful Gray might work but I'd be inclined to look at Analytical Gray 7051, Accessible Beige 7036 or Aloof Gray 6197 in addition to Comfort Gray. Hope this helps, good luck!...See MorePaint advice for north/west facing living room + kitchen
Comments (1)Why do you feel you need to consider colors that you dont like? Houses are to be enjoyed by the people that live there. You dont have to be trendy. Personally, I dislike anything tan, or beige, greige or green, so no matter how trendy, I wouldnt use them anywhere in my house. I do like gray, but that gray paint must look gray, and if any undertones, they must be blue, not the purple or green that some grays have. Put colors on your wall, that appeal to you, and that will make you smile. I use a lot of turquoise in different shades, because it makes me happy. Apparently, it makes others happy too, since I recently had someone tell me, they liked coming in my house, and found themselves staying longer than they meant to because, the colors make them happy and make them feel good....See MoreNorth Facing Room - Paint Help
Comments (6)What are the colors you are trying on the wall? Your sofa/chairs have a white/creamy look, am I seeing that correctly? I put BM Edgecomb Gray in my north facing bedroom. Furniture color close to your floors, creamy white bedding, creamy taupe drapes. During the day the paint is brightening, at night with lights on it does take on a creamy/beige hint. And its gives warmth that you never get from cooler grays. Very nice greige. Sorry I cannot give you a SW color match for it. I do know the BM Edgecomb Gray is LRV 63. Light reflecting colors above 50 are better at reflecting natural light during the day or artificial lights at night. I hope that helps....See MoreThis olive green velvet sofa …
Comments (328)Jilly, I don't know how I missed the two olives, the tornado, the pillows and all 300+ posts, but this is the first I have read any of this. I'm so glad your damage was mainly a roof. I hope you've been able to get it replaced. I would not want to have to go through these spring storms with tarps. I really like the lines of your sofas. I've looked at something similar -- one with 3 cushions and another with a single cushion or bench seat and liked them both. I'm starting to think about replacing our sectional and have thought about 2 sofas it we can get the right pieces. Mine will likely be blue though. If you don't mind, how did you find the support group you mentioned? I know someone who might benefit from the same group or something similar....See Morerobo (z6a)
