For mid-sized slicer, how many blooms per truss can set?
Comments (4)My volunteer grape, at 2-3' high (the prime of young-adult tomatohood, if you will) sets clusters of 40 -- and I've never seen blossom drop. However, when the plant decides conditions are not optimal, the end of the cluster aborts when the buds are barely visible -- resulting in a cluster with fewer than 40 blossoms. [I've seen the little yellowing cluster-tips.]...See MoreHow Many Sets of Bedding Do You Have?
Comments (23)Oh, I didn't know you were asking about sheets too, I thought you were just asking about the visible stuff. :-) Right now I have two sets of sheets, neither of which I'm entirely happy with. One set is very nearly worn out and really ought to be tossed, the second is only a couple of months old but not softening up the way I expected even with (yuck) fabric softener. I think I have to suck it up and get yet another set, and pass the most recent set on to my mom who prefers crisper sheets than I do. Sheets are so darn expensive though! I do prefer to have two sets; although we tend to take the sheets out of the dryer and put them right back on the bed so we don't have to fold them ;-) it's good to have a spare set in case of a spill or heavy sweating. The MBR ones are always ivory and the guest-room ones are always white. There's no need to feel guilty just because I'm lazy and cheap! :-) If you want to use one quilt now and store one set away to use later that's just fine, or if you find a paint color that works with both quilts and change between the two at whim, that is too. (If I were in your shoes I'd prioritize using the one that your DH got you though! Getting you a pretty quilt for the bed that - I would guess - you both share was a very thoughtful and romantic gesture.)...See MoreHow many sets of blinds for casement window? 1 big or 3 small?
Comments (12)I have done separate blinds, but am going to buy one big one for my bedroom window. I have nice trim between my casements, and thought I didn't want to cover it up - hence why I have three separate blinds in the FR. I don't have a problem with them not lining up. I don't really raise them, just tilt them if I want to block the sun etc. I wouldn't buy blinds anywhere but on the internet. It's almost like paying full price for a dress at a dept. store when could get it at the discounter for half price. I've boughten blinds at American Blinds and also from Smith Noble. I really couldn't tell the difference and just recently got some samples from Just Blinds. Smith & Noble won't do one blind on windows over 72". But Just Blinds will, so I may try them. Anyways, check out the online sites, Hunter Douglas are also much cheaper on these sites. As far as off the shelf blinds, they didn't offer the width of my windows and the the length of the off the shelf blinds weren't long enough, so that wasn't an option. But I do agree if you can find off the shelf that matches your window they would be much cheaper....See MoreHow Many Sets of Flatware Do You Have?
Comments (88)We love all things sterling! We use sterling flatware daily. Might as well use it if you have it! My mother gave me my grandfather's set from his second marriage (after her mother passed away) - original box and all from the mid 1950s. Gorham Willow, 8 place settings. Don't LOVE it but it is nice to use daily. My thrifting uncle found and gave me 6 dinner forks in Tiffany Wave Edge which I love. Also found a few serving pieces. I would love to get more of that when budget permits. Then we have two toddler sets for our children, but just "upgraded" our 5 yr old son to a youth sterling set in Gorham Rondo. I do have a silverplate set I purchased in Romania that was manufactured in the old USSR (stamped CCCP on the back). Still love it and the memories it holds but use the sterling more....See Moresushipup1
