Is this a yucca plant?

Hi,

Can you help me to identify this plant? Its root kind like woody. But leaves are much softer than my yucca color guard. I read a post here that everybody complains how hard to get rid of a yucca in there garden - if it is yucca - should I plant it in a container? Thanks a lot

Yes I would say it is a Yucca species.

This is an update of the yucca above , shes been in the house for the majority of the time I’ve had it so I recently moved it outdoors because The leaves started to turn white and crack and eventually dry out so First I watered it (soil was very dry ) and left it in the house for about a week and half after . then I placed it outside because I thought it needed more sunlight and it’s still abit chilly but manageable, but now it seems the leaves continue to dry up and then crack with white , any help ? Could it be because it needs to be repotted badly? I haven’t repotted it since I got it .. I think it’s a yucca gloriosa

I'd guess it's an interaction between the water and an unknown element in your potting mix, coagulating into that stuff you have pictured. Either that or a thoughtful cat is upchucking into the drainer.

Start by lodging a complaint with the seller - it sounds like it was not packed or handled in a way that would assure it would arrive intact. After that expect it to sprout replacement shoot(s) below the break.

Are the leaves soft enough to bend easily? Where is it growing? If it were on my property it would more likely be one of the native sedge/Carex species.

Nhbabs, you probably right. Yes, the leaves is very soft not rigid at all. Thanks

edit to add: after some googling. I don't think it is carex? The leaves on carex seems more narrower then this plant.

There are an enormous number of Carex species, some with narrow leaves and some with leaves up to an inch wide or a bit more. Check out Carex platyphylla which is native or Carex siderosticha, not necessarily as IDs but to see that not all have narrow leaves. To get a more specific ID usually requires a magnifier, a specialized key for Carex, and "flowers" which in Carex tend to be small and green or brown, not too ornamental.
