Does Rainforest Sunrise emerge all green?
Comments (11)Jon: I am finding the same thing but a number of mine were new last year so I'm not sure what they look like in the spring. A few of my white centered ones are showing the white right away which is a relief as they are among my favourites - Andrew, Vulcan, Fire and Ice. I can't believe the change in the hostas if I miss even one day in the garden. My guys laugh at me when I say I am going to tour my garden - probably looks the same as it did yesterday mom. But they don't see and appreciate the little changes!...See MoreRainforest Sunrise replacement for Maui Buttercups
Comments (4)Thank you both. That’s a useful comparison photo of both plants, Kathy. Your RS looks like it has larger leaves than MB, unless that’s a trick of the photo angle. I really do like the bright yellow of mine in the pot, from the nursery. But I like the yellow green, too, as long as it does not darken too much. The sun RF will have in the old MB spot will be early afternoon. What colors will be in this bed this year will be different than in the past, though. I lost a center branch of the overhanging pine due to snow weight in late spring. The huge old Frances Williams that loved it here better than any of the 4 locations I have put it, is bleaching on one edge. Ditto the Gold Standard that has been moved around along with FW....See MoreHey, whatever happened to Jon's Rainforest Sunrise ?
Comments (19)nicholsworth - yes, I'm pretty sure it is the same plant... I have three planted together in a triangular grouping to fill in an area.... It was a couple of years ago that I separated the other sport (Blue Maui), but I think it was the same plant. Well, at that time I potted it and it did beautifully, made it through the winter... next summer I planted it in the ground and it didn't make it through the next winter. But that may have been for any number of reasons. So - I will try again. I haven't gone out to separate this new one yet either... its been too busy around here so far... but I will eventually....See MoreRainforest Sunrise
